Erodgan said exactly what the leader of a nation who is not any kind of ally of ours who be expected to say. We should move every NATO assigned U.S. units in Turkey to Greece and tell our other NATO allies either join us in getting Turkey out of NATO or we leave NATO.
When I was there about 20 years ago, most Turks seemed pretty sane.
The ones I knew took their religion about as seriously as the typical Englishman takes their Anglican church- that is go on a couple of special days and otherwise just weddings and funerals. I liked the Turks; all about business and making deals (sure, I still call it Constantinople, but I’d nuke Mecca, too).
I can see why someone would want to get out of a place when the fundamentalists take control.
We can only hope...
