Democrats have never done anything good for the country only for their party.

Comrades cheer

“Did they with McCarthy?”

The Democrats disposed of McCarthy within nine months.

I’ve been saying that for days. The fissure between MAGA and centrists is too deep. Inevitably the traditionalists will make a power-sharing deal with Jeffries. (Today I’m reading Mike Johnson of La. will run when Jordan fails, so for now the show goes on.)

“It was enlightening to actually hear that every republican speaker from John Boehner had to be approved by Nancy Pelosi.”

What are you referring to? I haven’t found any Democrat votes for Boehner or any other Republican Speaker and I haven’t found any Republican votes for Pelosi.

Rather than blame “colluding Democrats,” take a look at the history of the speakership and try to find ONE example of where the minority has provided the winning margin for the majority’s speaker.

This mess can be attributed solely to the House Republican caucus being a snakepit of undisciplined nihilists.

“Jeffries suggests Dems won’t help nominate ‘extremist extraordinaire’ Jordan as Speaker”

Correct. Hakeem Jeffries starts with 212 votes. He needs five more.

Jim Jordan starts with 152. He needs 65 more. His 152 presumably includes the Matt Gaetz Rebel Alliance, so he needs 65 votes from the 221 GOP House members. He can afford four defections.

Let’s consider the GOP caucus that ejected Kevin McCarthy. Eight of 221 Members voted against McCarthy. Presumably, they are on the conservative side and will vote for Jordan.

A recent Defense Bill amendment to ban drag shows and pride parades in military facilities including schools was defeated because 19 Republicans voted with 212 Democrats to defeat it.

Presumably, those Drag Queen Republicans are on the less conservative side of the caucus.

From now until a floor vote, all 19 will be deluged with “stop the hate” messaging (referring to “ultra right MAGA Jordan”). The sad thing, of course, is that Jordan isn’t all that conservative, but he will do for a woke-thinkers punching bag until the next one comes along.

What do you think the “donor community” wants those 19 to do?

Hakeem Jeffries needs 5 of these Drag Queen Republicans to vote for him, OR ten of them to vote “present”, and he’s the next Speaker.

This is MUCH more likely than 15 of them voting for Jordan.

“When we have to rely on rats the republicans are despicable”

No majority has ever before had to rely on votes from the “enemy.” The fault is our own undisciplined caucus. It is NEVER the responsibility of the minority party to get the majority’s speaker nominee across the finish line. The 15 ballots for McCarthy’s speakership was a warning sign that party unity is a joke.

Your math might be sound, but I think Ukraine weighs more heavily than drag queens and a good number of reps won’t back a speaker who would cut it off.
