He’s ONE vote.

He will not put a bill on the floor that does not have a majority of Republican support.

Currently, a majority are opposed to further Ukraine funding.

Think so?

Speaker Johnson’s Ukraine views have been ‘evolving’

But in recent months, Johnson seems to have changed his tune somewhat. While he hasn’t expressed willingness to greenlight multi-billion dollar aid packages to Kyiv, he did tell The Daily Beast last month that “Ukraine has to prevail.”

Asked whether he supports more assistance to Ukraine on Wednesday, he was surprisingly clear: “We all do. We are going to have conditions on that, so we’re working through,” he said. “We want accountability, and we want objectives that are clear from the White House.“

My point is that it does not matter what his views are on Ukraine.

It only matters what the majority of conference thinks on Ukraine. And the majority of the conference is opposed to further aid.

Do some basic math...he doesn’t need the entire conference to vote for further aid to Ukraine. The majority of the Democrat conference supports it, thus it will pass, with out those Republican ‘no’ votes.

You are being obtuse and disingenuous.

If there is not a majority of the Republican conference in favor, there will be no vote on the matter. And these so-called Republicans will not get the chance to betray their brethren by aligning with Democrats.

Nope...American to the core since my maternal and paternal ancestors arrived from Hesse in 1642 (as a soldier garrisoning New Sweden, now Delaware) and from the Palatinate in 1682 (at Penn's Landing, among the first to settle Germantown). My great-great-great-great-great grandfather was a gunmaker for the Patriot cause during the Revolutionary War and also fought the British at Guilford Court House and Eutaw Springs.

I've also got some Jewish, English, Scots-Irish, and Cherokee ancestry as well.

Got a problem with that?
