Maritime insurers should either just say no OR charge a prohibitive premiun for coverage.
Stupidity rewards its practitioners with loss of money. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of electricity generation could see ( if they wanted to look) that EVs are inferior to ICE vehicles and that the so-called renewables are a scam. Like a Ponzi scheme the whole EV/renewable energy/climate change scam will collapse. Only reason it’s gone on as long as it has is corrupt politicians (ie Democrats) kelp pouring our money into it. In a free market it would have died years ago.
How can ANYONE (aside from a commiecrat) still think that these glorified golf carts are a good idea?
Shocking, positively shocking that, matie!
Hang ‘em over the side on davits. If the catch fire, jettison into the sea.
One of the worst places I can think of for an EV is near salt water.
So safe and environmentally sound… just keeps getting better. Yep.
Park them on deck and have a device that can sweep them off that deck into the ocean. Think pin ball paddle : )
Other then all the bad side effects listed above of an electric vehicle, it is safe and good for the environment.....
They will rue the day ICE cars were sent away.
No Worries!
Each ferry should have a flat barge towed behind it where all the EVs park. As soon as a problem develops, cut the barge free and shazam! No problem!
I suppose the only other question is should the EV owners be forced to remain with their EV.
I never thought of the dangers of EV’s on a ferry. Wonder how long it will be before places here take notice. Seems like they’d either have to be banned or be ferried on car ferries with no passengers.
Not exactly a Ponzi scheme, more a mass popular delusion. All of us get most of our information from third parties. The media have been thoroughly politicized and dominated by people with virtually no technical or scientific knowledge who are easily lead and manipulated by artful and deceptive characters. Although, frankly, calling Michael Mann "artful" is an adjective too far.
“Every age has its peculiar folly—some scheme, project, or phantasy into which it plunges, spurred on either by the love of gain, the necessity of excitement, or the mere force of imitation.”― Charles Charles Mackay, Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds
IMO, watch what happens the first time there is an EV battery fire on a US ferry and there is loss of life.
Scam from the get go.
Just like they pushed the covid vax, gov pushes this.
Fascism at work.
I have to take a 2 hr ferry several times a year. Starting with the first ship fire with EV cars (off the coast of the Azores in February a year ago), I contacted the ferry operator to ask what they were doing to deal with EV cars. I then contacted them again after the big ship fire off the Dutch coast this past July. So far, zero response....
All EV’s should just be towed on a raft behind the ferry, that would solve the problem.
-Fumes given off by lithium-ion batteries are toxic, gas masks are necessary when fighting the fire.
-A damaged high-voltage battery can create rapid heating of the battery cells.
-If you notice hissing, whistling, or popping, a possible sweet chemical smell, then black “smoke” (nanoparticles of heavy metals, not smoke) then white vapor coming from the high voltage battery assume that thermal runaway has occurred.
-Directly attacking the fire with water hoses and breaking open the battery requires specialist training and equipment.
-Do not attempt this without extensive training and practice.
DO NOT TAUNT HAPPY FUN BALL!
