Now they do have an argument that DeSantis should require this Commission if it is within his power to only honor actual women and also to have his administration more greatly scrutinize correspondence going out in his name.

Why call out the messenger? The story clearly isn't true. The "messenger" posted a statement that DeSantis gave this award. That clearly isn't true even if DeSantis personally wrote and sent this letter (which itself appears highly doubtful, but for the sake of argument, let's say he did). So the messenger fully deserves to be called out for posting false information.

From what I can find is that governors appoint the board members but don’t choose who to give the awards to. The recipients can be men or women; they just have to have had some sort of positive impact on women’s issues. At first I thought a woman had been displaced but the commission’s site is clear that anyone can get the awards.
The commission goes further back to another Democrat governor, name of Bryant, but Chiles had it codified into law about an annual report. Apparently Democrats think the Florida Constitution should carry every rinky-dink event as an amendment.

But it seems pretty obvious that the governor’s office honored the transgender woman for her DEI efforts in what might best be called an accidental, one-off brush with unintentional enlightenment.
You might be right. Trump did say many months ago that he knew something about DeSantis that would make his wife upset if she knew about it.
