Munchausen’s By Proxy is real....I’ve seen it.
******
I have too, but as the Guardian ad Litem I made sure the mom had supervised visits which is what the law requires. It is not good for the child not to see her mom either. What John Hopkins did was criminal.

I only commented because of my experience over 20+ years at a large, very well known, hospital.I don't know a thing about this particular case.

“I don’t even know what the case was over and I’m already rooting for the family.”

The hospital saved the little girl’s life.

“I think we will be seeing more cases of medical abuse based upon medical fascism.”

The mother’s treatment was medical abuse.

That news story makes the hospital’s lawyers seem even more evil. I see nothing in those photos that contradict her assertion of being in constant pain, and certainly nothing that contradicts her claim that the stress of being in the trial court worsens it.

“There is a God and he lives in the hearts of the jurors.”

Thank the father for taking the girl to the hospital.

Note the medical negligence claim. They thought it was MBP and stopped Maya’s medication regime. She got much worse but they were so sure of their “diagnosis” that they continued denying treatment. This was ideology in place of medicine.

I sure do miss their Covid death tracker. I am too depressed to check and see if they have it back. Hard to exist day to day without it. It praise be to big pharma and trump… their vax saved billions of lives worldwide, just like he said in Iowa. Our saviors.

One that has been following the case.

The mother was killing the little girl. Even their doctor quit the treatments.

Before being admitted she was getting worse each day. The mother wanted to die before her father took the girl to the hospital.

The mother’s doctor quit prescribing because he knew the megadoses weren’t helping.

Thanks for the article.

“ Beata Kowalski had endorsed putting Maya in a ketamine coma in a Mexican clinic and said the treatments had provided her daughter relief.”

That’s pretty much all I need to know about this insane mother and her permanently afflicted daughter.

Oh it’s real all right but do good social workers can’t diagnose it and guess what they never consulted a psychiatrist.

The couldn’t afford any more trips to Mexico so they found another doctor that would prescribe megadoses of ketamine.

At some point that doctor realized it wasn’t helping so quit prescribing.

The poor girl was addicted! The father finally took her to the hospital which probably saved her life.

Since I live close to where this trial is happening, I have been watching it closely.

This was a very challenging trial for the jury. Both in terms of length and complexity.

My main observation is that the hospitals lawyers made a couple of stupid mistakes that opened the door for the plaintiffs to get documents showing the hospital had a history of less than stellar management.

In the end I believe the jury saw the same and awarded a mega-verdict in favor of the Kowalski’s.

Now the next step will be the appeals court and they might not get the $200+ million settlement, but it will still be substantial.

I have the same condition that Maya has, Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome. It is considered rare by the CDC and it is difficult to find a qualified physician who knows much about it. I have a neurologist who treats me and has offices in two cities where he sees patients 2 days a week in each office. My first doctor said I was making up my pain to get off work. It is much harder on a child because no one believes the level of pain you have. There is no recommended treatment, no cure, and stress makes the pain worse. My husband watched the movie and cried because he has watched me struggle for 13 years. There are some areas of the country where there are no drs who treat, who even know how to treat, or are willing to learn. It’s come a long way since my accident but there are many scams, and people who claim to have a cure knowing that patients and/or parents are willing to do anything to get relief. It is first known to have been diagnosed during the Civil War. The dr called it causalgia. It’s also called the suicide disease. RSD/CRPS. Look it up. It’s real.

And the ketamine the mother wanted her to have in Mexico, is more available in the US now as a treatment for Maya’s disease.

Well, if true, THOSE are certainly worthwhile assertions.
