yep, wet dream of a liberal who wrote this. Just a dream, not even close to reality.
LOL! Although all moving statistics actually show more people relocating to Florida, Texas, and other conservative states, the corporate media keeps insisting that people are leaving those states in droves. I hope the ones leaving are the progressives who moved there during Covid but who just can’t wait to return to San Francisco, Chicago, Portland, and NYC.
Below is the link to the moving trends from 2022. I doubt they have changed THAT much. And of those that ARE leaving, I suspect their neighbors are happy to them see go.
And thanks to Abbott, my property taxes are going down over $800 from what I can tell. It’s still nasty for those that rent out properties though, but if you can claim homestead you’re in great shape starting next year in Texas.
Senate Bill 2 (Bettencourt/Meyer) provides property tax relief through tax rate compression, an increase in the homestead exemption, and a pilot project limiting the growth in appraised values. For tax year 2023, this will save the average Texas homestead owner over $1,200. Texas homestead owners over 65 or with a disability will see over $1,400 in savings.
“Yeah, people leaving Texas. Puhleeze, do yourselves a favor. Go on I35 and drive north from San Marcos to Waco.”
Hey..... don’t be sending them to Central Texas as we’ve already got more than our fair share of knuckleheads.
Keep heading north until you come to a sign that reads: Welcome to Canada.
This is good news. Sounds like it’s mostly left trash leaving. Going to infest some other state.
Good riddance!

Exactly. Getting rid of abortion and disallowing minors to be given trans medical procedures has done wonders for removing a lot of libs (some I know). Fringe benefit.
They haven't.
Current U-Haul rates (26-foot truck):
San Francisco, CA to Austin, TX: $5,256
Austin, TX to San Francisco, CA: $2,519
U-Haul in SF doesn't have trucks to send to Austin, but U-Haul in Austin has plenty of trucks to send to SF.
“Stripping away of human rights”.
Coward should have said I’m a no good lout and I will not use condoms nor will I support children. My hoes all get abortions. And Texans think fetal cells are babies, imagine that?!?!?!
That's effing insane.
I think the bimbo who wrote this crap was adding in the illegals Abbott is sending out by bus every day. Hopefully, “people” will continue leaving Texas. It’s doing the bus companies a lot of good.
Knoxville TN is likely to be an up-and-coming Woke $#ithole.
In 5-years, it will be just like Ashville NC.
Oh Geez. I should have expected as much. Another Beyonce wannabe.
I live in a small town population 1,600, in a solid red county in central Illinois and real estate taxes are assessed by county.
Three bed room, two baths, one level, attached garage. Don’t know the interior sq. footage but exterior dimensions are 65’ X 45’, excluding the garage. Located on a double corner lot.
I bought the house in 1992 and real estate tax was $755 per year. In the year 2000, I turned 65 and by state law my real estate taxes were reduced. 31 years later taxes are almost but mot quite as much as the year 1992 level. I also pay zero state income tax on my retirement income tax by Illinois law.
By no means am I trying to convince anyone what a great state Illinois is. It sucks on so many other levels, mainly because of millions of democrats in Chicago ruining a geographically red state.
I bet Marie fails to mention there is no income tax here, which offsets the property tax.
People are leaving Florida for much the same reasons
Anyone who doesn’t like Texas, her politics, or anything else is more than welcome to leave. If we could bus the entire population of Austin out, I’d be happy.
NO INCOME TAX?????
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even Illinois has no income tax on retirement income, I haven’t even filed a state income tax form in 23 years.
