The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company always let ONE song have a “Topical” reference. It became a tradition, and we looked forward to hearing what that one line would be every year.
That’s OK. But DON’T change the whole song, for heavens sake!
A busy, but very exciting day, dj!!
I can’t wait to hear all about the gala. Let me know how it all goes. Well, that is if you’re not to tired….and, have to soak away the day 💞💞
Yes, agree, dear nm1!!
Very well said.
❤️
Well, I love Trump because he loves America. Trump is a very successful businessman. One reason is because to be successful in business the guy in charge who knows what he is doing makes the decisions. Those who resist are often fired.
But government is a different animal. Although running a government like a business is a good idea in certain ways, America’s Free Constitutional Republic does not authorize the Executive Branch - the President - to legislate (make rules and laws). Legislation is reserved for Congress.
Executive Orders (EO’s) are an example Presidential legislation and THAT is dictatorship. Dictators make up the rules and then execute them. In America such presidential action is unconstitutional.
Trump is doing that mainly because America is in an emergency mode to correct the threatening acts implemented by his Leftist predecessors. Fair enough. But at some point, the goal MUST BE to reestablish the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land against the feds and to dismantle the $3+ trillion unconstitutional portion of the feds.
Either we dismantle it or dismantles us as Biden/Obama are trying to do right now.
Hi CB....I’m guessing that you posted to me in error? Did you mean to post Jim?
Hi nopardons....I’m thinking that CottonBall was a bit taken aback at your comments to Jim. It’s probably easier to just overlook it and forgive....she sometimes has a no-nonsense way of saying things.
Just my thoughts.
What a very creative artist you are, ML!
You have your own, recorded “masterpieces”. I love it.
And, thanks for the warning, should we all attend a production, together. Always one “firebrand”, in every group! :^)
Forewarned is Foreared, LOL .
oops!
Forearmed.
😂 ... I knew what you meant.
Thanks Rusty
:)
Re what you wrote about how to treat YOU should we all go to see a G&S production...not only would I have to have similar treatment, but perhaps a bit more, as I do tend to also do fan bits with my hand/s for THE MIKADO and other bits for all of the other operettas as well. What a pair we make! LOL
It was ALWAYS done ( made current ) in I'VE GOT A LITTLE LIST; but has been done in a few other patter songs in other operettas.
Actually TWO, Jane! LOL
I see I have my work cut out, for me.....with you two 😍
HOW FUN it would be, though!!
But we would have THE best time EVER! :-)
We might have to cook something up. :-)
Maybe a live simultaneous viewing of a You Tube Video?
Then there were the technical aspects of it. I had a 16 Track digital Mixer/workstation with 8 virtual tracks on each of the sixteen so I had planty of room for all the choristers. I ended up with singing all the choral parts (S,A,T,B) each sixteen times, changing the EQ on each so they would sound like different people, then positioning them left and right on an imaginary stage, and mix them down to two tracks. Then I would record the pirinciples. The most challenging were the big ensemble numbers at the end of Act 1. These would be 20 minutes of straight music with no dialogue, with both male and female choruses and all the principles onstage at the same time singing with one another. At the time I had a big range and could sing all the parts.
My favorite scene was the end of Act 1 of Iolanthe. That was particularly fun to sing. :-)
I don’t have any of that equipment now, and it is considered obsolete by the industry now anyway. EVERYTHING is done on computer now. I did it all by hand, using digital tools. BIG Difference.
Just got back from a Christmas Concert by a local choral group. Five of my buddies from the musician bunch I hang out with were in the choir. It was lovely.
That way we shan't be complaining about every 2 minutes. :-)
