“Leaning towers of Gaza.”

Me like!
I bet they don’t last as long as the one in Italy!

“ what’s it going to take for Americans to stand up and fight back against these creeps!”

New and different Americans, not cowed by evil, not concerned with what someone says on their electronic devices.

Whoever in Hamas decided that such an extensive tunnel system was a good idea wasted a lot of money and man hours. Tunnels are great for building up stores but aren’t squat for hiding out in, especially if your enemy uses artillery and air power to take out your above ground weapons and fighters.
I imagine there are a bunch of Hamas cadre stuck in those tunnels scratching their heads and wondering “what now.”
Unless they used the cease fire to get a bunch of them out.

If Gaza does become uninhabitable, and if the surrounding Arab countries are too smart to take in the Palestinians, what that means is that the proggies will not rest until all 2 million are resettled in Western countries.

The Maginot Line gets bad press, but it was actually perfectly effective. The Germans never breached it. The problem with it was, it gave the French a false sense of security.

The Gaza tunnel complex is simply suicidal. Hamas placed stores in kindergartens and hospitals where it was safe from attack as long as they didn’t go all-out jihad on Israel. Now Israel is going Old Testament on Hamas. May the Lord keep and guide them.

They won’t be resettled in other countries....Gazans are the Middle Easts foothold in Israel , they’ll never let them leave.

They do get out now, I know of a young Palestinian doctor in my community. If Palestinians want to leave, and if Israelis are happy for them to leave, there is nothing that Muslim countries are going to be able do about it, beyond refusing them entry into their own countries.

If that were true then they could have left long ago.

If the Belgians had extended the Maginot line to the sea the Germans never would have stood a chance of breaking through. However the depression hit Belgium hard and defense works were the first thing cut.
Belgium did build some defensive works but it was on the cheap. I’ve seen pictures of some of them and there was little rebar used and the concrete didn’t have enough stone and the thickness was only around 2/3 of what it should have been. Really bad job all around.

Israel needs to get Wrath of God Old Testament.
Like Soddom and Gomorrah WoGOT.

Wikipedia:
The Mechelen incident of 10 January 1940, also known as the Mechelen affair, took place in Belgium during the Phoney War in the first stages of World War II. A German aircraft with an officer on board carrying the plans for Fall Gelb (Case Yellow), the German attack on the Low Countries, crash-landed in neutral Belgium near Vucht in the modern-day municipality of Maasmechelen within the Province of Limburg. This prompted an immediate crisis in the Low Countries and amidst the French and British authorities, whom the Belgians notified of their discovery; however, the crisis abated relatively quickly once the dates mentioned in the plans passed without incident. It has been argued that the incident led to a major change in the German attack plan, but this hypothesis has also been disputed.

When Germany invaded Poland, there were six German divisions between the French border and Berlin. Belgium and the Netherlands could mobilize 30 divisions between them. After the Mechelen incident, had the Belgians and Dutch mobilized, or had the Anglo-French anticipated a German thrust through he low countries, the blitzkreig of May 1940 into France either would not have taken place, or if attempted it would have failed.

One problem for the Anglo-French was lack of a unified command. Neither trusted the other to defend their flanks, and when the Germans (serendipitously for the Germans) attacked in between both retreated to secure their flank, more of less letting the Germans in behind the French, and British lines.

The Palestinian in question is an attractive woman fresh out of medical school. It seems pretty clear that Hamas doesn’t treat women very well, so I don’t doubt that the doctor had every reason to get out. She can make her own way, but I doubt that is true for many Palestinians.

As mentioned most Gazans will remain welfare recipients for that's all they know...and contribute nothing.

It sounds to me like Israeli and Egyptian travel restrictions because of Hamas is the problem, starting in 2007.

I’ve heard that de-Nazi-ing is going to be Israel’s next step, after getting rid of Hamas, but if Gaza is uninhabitable as a consequence of killing off Hamas, what are they going to do, realistically?

Given ample water/food/shelter/medical/schooling to keep 2 million people a going concern that might be feasible, but is Israel going to have the will and the ability to do that while governing the rest of the country?

Someone once told me that whenever hostages are taken you have to count them as dead. Their well being can have no part in the next moves that you make. It is hard. Beyond hard. But that is the way it must be or you are setting things up for most hostages to be taken. In the words of J. Paul Getty, “If I pay one penny now, I’ll have 14 kidnapped grandchildren.”

If you manage to save any of the hostages that might happen to be alive, bonus. But don't count on it.

I understand that. Americans tend to be the same way which is why we do have our citizens kidnapped and taken hostage over seas.

If there was no up side, only certain death it would mostly stop.

Eventually. But until that time arrives you would have to put up with your own people, understandably, screeching for your head.

At some point it will have to be done however. And the longer it is delayed the more costly it will be.
