Right, I have said ... if you want illegals to serve in OUR military and promise them citizenship, benefits, etc. that is plum dumb!!

Just hire mercenaries. THEY are already trained, experienced and won’t want to hang around here for promises of citizenship or benefits when the job is done. AND they won’t stand around arguing over nail polish or the hair dryer, while their buddies get wiped out!

Yes, I did. Thanks for the correction and amendment. The most "progressive" sorts think even live births can be snuffed. Evil.

What gets me is why the lefties in Congress think that they themselves would be safe if a non-citizen majority military decided it was time for a regime change.

Oh, wait. That policy hastened the collapse of Rome.

That's how I see it. Florida, Texas, California, etc eventually will become independent nations. It could happen tomorrow. 100 years. 500 years. 1,000 years. It depends on whether the next President is a Julius Caesar or a Nero.

My mother and her brother came with their mother from Canada, and settled in Rochester, NY when they were young in the 1920's. In September 1942, my uncle, who wasn't a citizen, enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was 26 at the time. Because there was no record of his entry into the U.S., in June of 1943, the Army him up to Niagara Falls so he could walk back over the Peace Bridge to establish a date of entry. While he was on his way to the West coast to head overseas, his unit stopped at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, where he was naturalized at the courthouse on July 30, 1943. He served until the end of the war, receiving an honorable discharge.

That was then. This is now. This is a horrible Bill and needs to be defeated.

Your uncle was an immigrant; he came here with intent to become American. Clearly, he succeeded. That bit about walking across the Peace Bridge to satisfy a bureaucratic requirement is hilarious.

This bill is about illegal aliens and other malefactors who are coming here to destroy America. Agree that it is horrible and must be defeated.

I remember when that raghead at Fort Hood killed 13 soldiers and he’s still alive.

Duckworth must be a complete idiot to reveal that idea.

"That bit about walking across the Peace Bridge to satisfy a bureaucratic requirement is hilarious."

My sister told me that story years ago, but I thought it was made up. It wasn't until I joined Ancestry.com that I discovered his Naturalization paper from 1943 that documented the story. My sister also told me that he had served in the China-Burma-India theater, and was badly wounded, but I've never been able to verify that as his military records were destroyed in the St. Louis records building fire in 1973.

My uncle lived in California for many years with his wife, so we never saw them. They never had kids either. In the early 60's he got very sick, sold their house, and came east to stay with us. He eventually ended up in the VA hospital in Batavia, NY, and that's where he died in 1964. He was only 48. While they were staying with us, I don't ever remember him talking about his military service. I'm a female, and was 16 or 17 at the time, so sadly didn't have the inclination to even ask him.

His wife, my aunt eventually moved back to California, and after my mother died in 1990, I continued communicating with her until her passing.During our phone conversations, I tried on several occasions to get her to talk about his Army service, but she would become very emotional and say it was too painful to talk about. So all these years later, I have no idea about his service. I do know he started out in the 721st Railway Operating Battalion which was organized in Louisiana. They ended up in the China-Burma-India theater, but at some point before the unit shipped overseas, he was transferred to another unit, the 857th Ordnance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Company, which there is nothing about, other than they too were in the China-Burma-India theater.

Thank you! Interesting, and a bit sad, background. I’m glad you were able to document the bridge crossing ... just proves that some things are too crazy NOT to be true.

And it just makes sense: Some nerd in records just HAS to have a Date of Entry. Why? Because you can’t fill out FORM XYZ123 without a Date of Entry!!! And without a FORM XYZ123, the world will end!!! So some officer in his chain of command solved the problem ...

Makes you wonder how many other immigrants who came here, and served during WWII, ended up having to recreate their entry to the U.S. in order to be naturalized. With the destruction of so many military records in 1973, I doubt anyone would ever be able to accurately assess the number.

Am I wrong or does this sound more like the fall of the Roman Empire? Didn’t their young folks shun joining the military so they hired mercenaries to fight their battles who later turned against them?

There are a few Democrats, very, very few, who, over the years became politicians and managed to retain my gratitude of their service.

And Duckworth is not one of them.

The overwhelming majority of them have done things, or supported those things that have harmed this country.

I am grateful to all who served, but that default respect does not last forever. Negative actions can negate, for me, service they may have performed as members of the military community.

Make a version of the foreign legion, populate that with your new inductees and use them overseas and keep regular US forces home.

Makes sense in as much they are ruining the military for color-blind patriotic Americans so of course they need foreign mercenaries to fill the gaps THEY CREATED.
