Right. Knocking on doors, volunteering to drive people to caucus sites, distributing campaign literature, making phone calls...that’s participating in the process and it’s completely legal. Trump supporters are really getting ridiculous and they’re sounding kind of worried.

How is it possible to misunderstand that the citizens of a state only are legally allowed to vote?
Caucusing is a meeting, not an election. At the end of the meeting there is an election, but not only do not all citizens get to vote in that election, not all party members get to vote. And it’s not as simple as that.

Looks like you misunderstand it also, since that sentence contradicts itself.
A caucus takes place on predetermned date, and in the process there is a vote, and it is only open to citizens of Iowa, and it is as simple as that.
Or you misunderstand. The word ‘caucus’ has a meaning.
In the case of Iowa, to select a candidate there are a whole series of caucuses and then votes, at different levels from precinct on up through the state, not a single thing. A caucus however does not have to include an election.
Whatever the caucus is, whatever rationalization you make, or try to define it out of existence, the caucus takes place on a specified date and is only open to Iowa citizens.
