IMO, the average Joe should never give up their position. Get to a safe place where you have cover and hide until (if) you need to defend yourself with gun fire. On a good day, the threat will be eliminated and your garments will be unsoiled.

This is great advice! Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) is an excellent choice: Hand-held, dual-band radios are inexpensive (good radios are less than $100 USD, decent radios are less than $50), easy to learn and use (literally hundreds of videos online for first-timers), no wifi or cell-service is needed, and do not require a license for EMERGENCY use.
Heck, you can even message me if you need help getting set up or just want to know more about it.

This is a ridiculously vague story.
I have a background which includes security - and commercial security systems - and if new ‘consumer’ systems are utilizing wi-fi rather than hard lines to report alarms, that’s a huge problem (and one of which I was previously unaware; looking into it). They had cellular communication decades ago, but I never recommended it due to unreliability...and jamming (go figure).
The fact is that police simply don’t respond to alarms anymore in most jurisdictions; going cheap on a ‘wi-fi’ system is just dumb. These jammers just buy more time. ‘Tool in the toolbox,’ no different than other burglar tools.
The place we should be using arms is on the southern border, where the invasion is taking place...
I heard you can get a guy from Colombia or Venezuela really cheap....
