Yeah that’s a good plan.
That is the way it used to be. If it was illegal in your state you went somewhere else. She has that right and there are still places to go.
“When she returns to Texas, will Ken Paxton be seeking a warrant for her arrest?”
Or will he prosecute her doctor if the doctor found an out-of-state doctor who will perform the procedure?
“I don’t think this is about the procedure, this is about the PUBLICIZING of the procedure.”
If that’s true, it was well played. This is going to motivate women to vote in 2024. This issue will continue to bite the GOP in the ass.
“The Attorney General argued that she is in violation of the law.
Will he have her arrested?”
I’m sure that will get suburban women to turn out for the GOP.
She’s leaking amniotic fluid and has a long way to go yet. The baby boxes and safe haven laws will do nothing for her as this baby won’t survive. She needs to be patched up so that she is able to bear viable siblings for the two she already has. My heart goes out to this poor woman.
I do wonder what this Paxton guy is up to. In going after her this way I tend to start assuming the worst.
Given the responses we see on this thread from the (doubtlessly, self-identifying "evangelical Christian") knuckle-draggers, GOP candidates will be demolished throughout the country in 2024 on account of this issue, and they will deserve to be.

My guess is he’s trying to score political points with his base.

I tend to think that you are correct. And after the wipeout, a large portion of these people will start bleating about voter fraud. Even in deep red states.

Correct. She has stated that this was a planned pregnancy. Her doctor has informed her that the baby will not survive but that she is at risk of not being able to have more children, which she has stated she wants.
Same here
My suspicion is that there are all sorts of unscrupulous bottom feeders ready to make money on a manufactured need. Maybe it will be for care for women in need of long term hospice, who can say?
In the State of Texas, there is no statute that directs the attorney general not to enforce laws due to their potential impact on voter turnout.
Get used to these stories, because they’re going to keep coming.
“In the State of Texas, there is no statute that directs the attorney general not to enforce laws due to their potential impact on voter turnout.”
Right. And apparently, that same standard applies to human decency.
But she didn’t break the law. She won a court order.
That made it legal. Paxton threatened the hospital and the doctor immediately after that.
If the care costs a lot of money then they can’t even give up a career
The people I have seen with a disabled child have had it hard but none would have aborted to rid themselves of the problem. In most cases, the husband continued to work, carry insurance, and support the family while the mother stayed home with the child. There is a reason for a two-parent home.
I have also seen too many cases where the doctors were wrong, and the child was fine.
This woman didn’t want her life messed up and she wanted the attention, IMO.
Bye
This baby was as good as dead; it had a fatal defect and could not have survived. The woman in question wanted more children; this was not a use of abortion as birth control, for mere convenience after irresponsibility. I feel for her and the child, but this is one exception that seems valid.
