A majority of accidents with aircraft is pilot error. If there had been an ATC guy in front of the scopes that particular acident might not have been a possible. When he was going to roll, the airbus would have requested they open his cloud clearance and a chance to roll and would have been put on hold by the ATC. And with what little traffic in that area there is it would have been very easy for the tower to know what was going on. You don’t really get into a lot of traffic problems at uncontrolled airports. The local ujnicom normally handles the air space.

What I can’t figurte out is who was going in or out the wrong way. Aircraft land and take off into the wind to add lift to the wings. If they were going to hit head on some one was going down wind. The safety guy made it sound like the airliner. And BTW, there is an old phrase that says the most dangerous part of flying is the trip to the airport in the car.
