Removal or destruction? I thought I was reading before that they were destroying it. Better to move it to a museum or appropriate historical area as we should not be destroying our history, whether good or bad.

The buck stops with Trump. If Trump didn’t nominate Alston and send his nomination to the Senate, there wouldn’t have been a confirmation.
