“the wife was a big part of the problem.”
Yup—I am sure there will be some stunning “tell all” stories about her after this is over.
The “participation” blunder was a classic imho—can’t remember any campaign spouse getting that out of control and off message before...
She forgot the old adage:
“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.”
;-)
Then they tried to cover for her blunder—just made them all look like spinning clowns.
“assigned with U.S. Navy SEALs in Iraq”
There is a Freeper who uses a great tagline:
“A truth that’s told with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent”
The long history of men trying to court women allows the women to find out if the guy is a liar, a secret loser with a bragging confidence, or someone who could be a good husband and father someday. Doesn’t always work but it winnows out a lot of bad ones.
The “woman” here is the nomination for and winning of the US Presidency.
William Barr, Jeff Sessions, Michael Cohen:
Now you tell us.
I will tell you exactly what has happened
I will let you know I am still a desantis supporter and I see exactly what has happened to him
The first 3 debates he came out like a robot - weak and non combative
During the primaries a candidate needs to show cobativity !!!!
Haley came across much less scripted less robotic and more from the heart
During the greasy newsome debate desantis was spectacular and was combative with facts !!! He destroyed greasy !!!
I thought to myself , where the hell was that desantis during the first 3 debates
During the 4th debate he came across more combative but it was too late. The damage of the first 3 debates did him in and that when people switched from desantis to Haley
I need to hear the candidate platform and policies. Desantis did exceptionally well for Floridians. I just wish he was less robotic. He is a very smart man
In the interview with Barbara Walters, Rush Limbaugh was asked why, with his millions of fans, Rush didn’t enter politics himself.
He quickly stuck out his hand, palm up.
“This is why. The second someone enters a political race someone promises campaign funding if the person agrees to do as told on some issues regardless of their own values. Without the funding the campaign goes down.”
Great quote from Rush.
Many decades ago I worked for a Congressional campaign and we were the Republican struggling against a Democratic incumbent in an evenly split party district.
My candidate (who was a known conservative in the area which was why I joined his campaign) started waffling on a bunch of issues and I got in his face about it.
At one point I accused him of being willing to harm his kids if it helped get him elected.
He fired me on the spot.
He lost the race 75% to 25%.
I think they needed me.
;-)
My point is that it won't be the same campaign because he won't be using the "B" team as his staff. He would have gotten the "A" team in 2028 to run his campaign.
And secondly, he wouldn't be running a campaign to dethrone President Trump, he'd be running a campaign to follow President Trump, led by the same people who advised President Trump.

Thanks PJ. I think the essential DeSantis is the issue. I find him inauthentic and doubt he would read as a Trump heir at any point since he does not have the same qualities or ideals.
An old cop show I watched last week had a character say “You’re making an error here. You’re treating him like he’s human. He’s not. He’s a politician.”
Whoo Hoo!
Lions Win The North!
🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻👍
Simplistic but not wrong.
The other was that he started believing his own press.
He could have waited until 2028 and it would have been great. Win or lose he would have been in a much better position.
Not really.
Any of those things happening and DeSantis STILL would have been better off waiting for 2028.
Roar Restored!
Absolutely!
You, Sir, have hit the nail directly on the head.
He has proved to be no more than a politician, and I use that word as a bad thing. He will do and say whatever it takes to win and does not have the best interests of the USA nor the citizens of the USA at heart.
Too many GOP primary poll-respondents are worshiping a golden calf and would rather lose with a bloviating geriatric circus clown than win with an actual accomplished conservative.
And I'll be here on Election Night watching this catastrophe unfold while dishing out crow and savoring the schadenfreude.
Ok you explain it better. Why would DeSantis run against Trump?
To be fair, DeSantis had no choice in the matter. Comparatively speaking, he’s flat broke and must do anything his financial backers tell him to do.
This, in a nutshell, is the main problem for anyone running for national office in this country.
Unless you are a self-financed billionaire you have to dance to the tune of Big Money, and for the Republicans that means the GOPe and their fellow travelers within the Uniparty.
I'm not sure if there is any good solution to this problem. Perhaps, what if, early on, DeSantis had solicited hard for lots of small campaign contributions, explaining his need for them to avoid being captured by the donar class? I dunno.
