My car, a Toyota, has a Bluetooth connection to my cell phone, but I thought the memory was on the phone, not the car. I could be wrong. Still, I’m more or less indifferent. My wife knows my cellphone PIN, why should I be afraid of the police?

DO NOT HAVE NEW CAR OR TRUCK
DO NOT HAVE CELL PHONE

To be honest I'm not sure if my *car* stores anything or not.God knows it can do just about everything else but maybe not calls. I know that it gives a special little symbol when I get a text and if I click it I can read it on my screen.
And as for being scared of the cops...do some research on the State Police's history at Logan...Area E. It's enough to make anyone soil their underwear.

There are different levels of “monitoring”.
The intelligence agencies do a mass collection of data but do not “monitor” it.
Then if you become a “person of interest” they have your history and can focus on real time monitoring.

“why should I be afraid of the police?”
There is absolutely nothing to fear—until they decide you are one of a group of “scapegoats of the week”.
The authorities have no shame—they can make up charges on anyone at any time.
It is a game of chance.
The anti-vaxx fanaticism was a good example.
Previously boring people became “enemies of the state” because they did not want to become lab rats.

My point was that I should have more to fear from my wife than from the police. I lead an extraordinarily boring life. It’s like the FBI surveillance of Carter Page. He must be the most clean-living human being in history if the FBI couldn’t frame him for something, given the resources devoted to that effort.

“Only with a court order.”
I think Trump has demonstrated over the years, that any and every court will grant that court order. It appears to be as easy as ordering fries at McDonalds.

Smart cars and smart devices are why I ALWAYS use stolen cars and burner phones that are never used near my familiar haunts as I commit my nefarious and criminal deeds. LOL! GMTA!

Only one answer...mount an EMP device on your dash. Flashing blue light in your rearview mirror? Pull over...and hit that there “button”.

I certainly hope you pull over and stop in a safe place before using your phone.

No they don’t. They do whatever they like and both society and the judges allow them to do it.

...I don't mean to alarm you - but...yeah. I developed an in-vehicle assistant demo using voice recognition and text to speech, coupled with ChatGPT (AI chat bot). I can literally say to the in-vehicle (demo) assistant, "send an email to , tell him I'm on the road but will be late...make up some reasonable reason". Typically, the email generated by the AI will suggest I'm stuck in a traffic jam. I can define work & home addresses, which contact is my boss or emergency contacts etc. - then just say "call my boss and email him the address of "...and it'll send the email and initiate a bluetooth connected phone call. It's all far simpler than navigating through a bunch of screens on the infotainment system.
