First: South Africa is a breathtakingly dangerous and violent country.Walk around the affluent suburbs of Johannesburg and every commercial building,and every house,has fences with barbed wire on the top and a sign saying "Protected By XYZ Security.Armed Response". There aren't nearly enough cops and they're horribly equipped and paid.
For that reason his story about an intruder is very,very plausible. I don't have the first clue what did,and didn't,happen but if I was a juror I'd certainly listen closely to his defense.
The intruder would have been locked in his bathroom?
Do some research about crime in the country before you dismiss his claims outright.
And don't forget that he has no legs and sleeps without his legs.That would increase any sense of fear that he might have.
Like I said....I can't be sure what happened. And neither can you.
