European production of 155 mm ammo is ramping up nicely. IIRC Rheinmetall alone is expecting to produce 1 million shells in 2024.

Historical example would suggest Russia will have to kill at least 1 million Ukies to prevail, and even then I think they (Russia) will be left with an ugly guerilla war, indefinitely.

IF a fair number of those Euro 155 mm shells are guided munitions, and IF Ukraine gets increased numbers of F-16’s and munitions for them (which the US has in abundance), say 1/3 of US 2024 HIMARS production, some ATACMS and a few other goodies, plus lots of modest price drones, they should be able to fight smart and keep casualties manageable. We shall see...

Russia doesn't have much of an NCO corps. Their military is much more officer-led than ours is. As such, you can take most Russian ranks and subtract 2-3 levels to get their equivalent US rank. So the lower Russian generals are in positions that the US places a Colonel or maybe even a Major into.
