Companies like Kodak have been making poor choices for ever. From corporations going woke, to making huge mistakes like Disney getting into politics, and general miscalculations that sink companies...like Kodak not going digital and so many huge computer companies failing like DEC
Now those are great bosses.

I think it depends on the business, but in tech I personally think a 5 year veteran is multiples of times more effective than a fresh person joining. But then, I’m not management anymore!
what industry and role was it, if I might ask?
Yup, you got it right — fresh MBAs should be spending their first 6 months at the lowest jobs in the company to know how things REALLY are on the ground. Then, combining new knowledge with the current workings can make them more effective.
VERY low level. Hostess for a dinner theater place for the folks that had made reservations ahead of time. But - it did force the place she did want to work at (front desk person at a nice hotel) to put her on full time.
When they hired her they said it was full time, but...
“Okay - but if you can’t put me at the desk full time I have to get another job.”
After enough times of “I’m sorry, but I’m already scheduled at the theater for that time...” they put her full time. Some days she ended up working both jobs.
She’s a good worker, smart and diligent. I wish she would set her sights higher.
