I began reading a lot about Rhodesia’s struggle several years ago. The account of the flight of “Green Leader” is quite interesting.

I fear our future is similiar.

“ I’m hoping that Eagle Pass, TX will be Obama’s Armageddon.”

I’d settle for just Waterloo

Michigan has a similar group called the Michigan Volunteer Defense Force (although it seems that they have dropped the "Volunteer" from their name since the last time I looked into them.)

For the most part the Michigan Defense Force fills in during natural disasters or other state emergencies alongside the Michigan Army and Air National Guards in mostly logistical support (noncombat) roles.

Though the Texas national guard has the largest membership of any state, they are all Texans. How many of them do you think will follow orders to bear arms against their own state and brethren?

And, we also have the Texas Rangers, DPS, Texas State Guard, Texas State militia, 255 sheriffs department SWAT and tactical teams, and about a dozen other militias around the state to throw into the mix.

All of this gives folks an incentive to move to Texas.

California also has a state militia but the last time I checked it was a mere shadow of what would be expected if a proper militia. In CA the governor would only call it out to provide security at a pride parade

The State Guard is small....1,600 +/-. By comparison, the TX National Guard is 18K. Abbott has supplemented his support , I believe, with Texas Rangers (State Police).

State defense forces are distinct from their state’s National Guard in that they cannot become federal entities. All state National Guard personnel (to include the National Guard of the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the territories of Guam and the Virgin Islands) can be federalized under the National Defense Act Amendments of 1933 with the creation of the National Guard of the United States. This provides the basis for integrating units and personnel of the Army National Guard into the U.S. Army and, since 1947, units and personnel of the Air National Guard into the U.S. Air Force.[4]

I know several CBP guys on the Canadian Border. They actually believe in “border patrol”

Sure they want to keep their jobs and pensions, but there is no way in hell they would confront an organized Texas force actually trying to secure the border.

Half of them might even go over to the Texas forces’ side.

Texas v. White, 74 U.S. 700 (1869) Obviously, the Supreme Court is going to have to speak up on it, rather than one word answers. They need to get going and make a ruling on it asap, or we will have a Constitutional crisis.

Here is what the Net says about the situation:
Governor Abbott of Texas has claimed that he has the constitutional authority to deploy Texas National Guard and state troopers to the border, citing Article I, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution, which allows states to act in self-defense when they are invaded or in imminent danger1. However, this claim is disputed by legal experts and the Biden administration, who argue that the federal government has exclusive power over immigration and border security, and that Texas is interfering with federal law enforcement and violating the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution23. The U.S. Supreme Court has not directly ruled on this issue, but it has vacated a lower court’s decision that prevented Border Patrol agents from accessing a park where Texas had erected concertina wire2. The legal standoff between Texas and the federal government over the border situation is ongoing and may escalate further.

Minor correction, not the militia which is composed of the National Guard, Air National Guard, and the Texas State Guard. Only the Texas State Guard portion would be exempt from nationalization. Wonder if it could be expanded by concurrent enlistments of National Guardsman and other current/retired LEOs. May not be necessary, 1,600 seems small but it’s a lot of people.

I’ve been saying that since I saw the two ignorant Texas Congerscritters demanding Biden nationalize the Guard so Abbott couldn’t use them. Yes, there is a Texas National Guard that could be federalized, but there is also a state Guard that cannot be.

Stupid Congresscritters don't surprise me. I'm thinking Joe isn't going to want to declare a national emergency to federalize, nor is he going to want to pay them. And what's the emergency and where will he deploy them. I doubt he can nationalize them just to block Abbot's callup though it will take a while to go through the courts.
