Newspaper articles should explain what they really were. For example: this person was born a little girl but grew up wanting to be a male and ‘legally’ changed their sex.
I still don’t know what sex this person was at birth or what they were pretending to be as an adult.

It’s been reported that the shooter at the Osteen Houston church had “free Palestine” written on “her” gun.
(S)he was luckily stopped by two off-duty police officers.
Many of us questioned whether “she” would turn out to actually be “he”.
