Some other cities have done this kind of thing, in order to radically change the culture of the police force.

“...criminals venture into the previously safe suburban enclaves, which is happening.”

I posted an article a couple days ago about the South American Thief Gangs (”SATG” — they have their own acronym already!” moving into Exton, Pennsylvania, a nice suburban town (and where my folks used to live).

Isn’t it time for the pitchfork&torch folks to rise up and toss these little tinhorn dictators out on their collective asses?

"“NY police officers will be cut by 1/5, or 13.5%”"

That's pretty damned funny! It literally states that police officers will be cut by 20% or 13.5%. So, which is it? Either or both? 20% = 13.5% in what universe? LOL!!!

"How does the mayor live with his own extreme self hate having been a NYC cop?"

Maybe he was a mandatory quota hire and promotion but he had a stick it to the man mentality.

Freepers Italian Quaker and T.B. Yoits point out that Adams isn’t actually cutting 6,000 positions. NYPD has 30,000 officers, so a cut would be reducing the number to 24,000. Instead, what he is doing is eliminating the next 5 police academy classes. Dumb idea.

The number of officers presently employed will not stay a permanent number. In the coming year, there will be retirements, resignations, some terminations, officers off duty due to on the job injuries, and maybe some deaths. Each vacancy means someone else has to take up the slack until the system gets much more ineffectual than it is now. Now there won't beany replacements from the academies to train, and I don't think NYPD is getting too many applications from officers from other agencies seeking to be lateral hires. Maybe Adams can call boy wonder Governor from California and have him send 120 CHP officers.

But, as some have also pointed out, where the police reduce their presence, criminals will increase theirs. In time, some parts of the city will be truly run by crime lords and the police will have to have unofficial liaisons with the crime bosses. It’s like something out of a movie!

What we are seeing is that our cities are being turned over to the equivalent of monkeys typing on a typewriter and expecting something intelligent to be produced. Oh my, did I just compare quota hires to monkeys? I am so sorry that I just insulted monkeys.

So, Adams had to choose between public safety and surrender to invaders. Adams chose surrender. Yes - it's time to ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK!

Glad I lived/worked in NYC decades ago. Glad I haven’t been there often since. Glad I won’t be back.

The gimick is, that a cultural change occurs by elminating a sequence of acadamy classes.

I feel bad for those young naive city dwellers who think they’re living the cool dream in NYC.....when riots erupt, they will be the targets.

Mayor Token Adams is going to hire illegal aliens into the NYPD just like Democrat regime in California has already done.

There’s a bight side though. They will work for less money. And they will take a load off the court system. In their culture, if you get stopped by a cop, you pay the fine to the cop. It can vary depending on what’s in your wallet. That way though, no ticket, no court date, and no worry about getting your car insurance raised.
