Crazy thing, I think the DuPonts are even more F’d up than the Biden’s…
About what I do, but I only use the one card and don’t have any others. I don’t know and don’t much care what my credit score is, because I’m not planning to borrow any money.
I have a collection of credit cards. Each has different benefits, like one has 5% back for gas purchases, Discovery rotates 5% back by category each quarter, Chase has a 3% back for restaurants, and Wells Fargo has 2% back on all purchases all the time - good for paying utility bills. I will also sign up for promotions like, like 80,000 points for a new card sign up (Chase Reserve, Capitol One). Some of the more generous offers have annual fees, so I close down the card after I get the freebie. All cards are paid off, no balances kept.
That sucks, and should be blocked.
this means no balance transfer between cap1 and discover.
and probably a reduction of my availible credit
Between Discover and Capital 1 I have over 60k available credit
(under 100$ total balance on both)
Whatever works for you. I don’t care to keep track of all that stuff, and points are meaningless because I’m not going to fly anywhere unless it’s an emergency, and then I would anyway.
I have used American Express Blue Cash rewards card for over ten years. I pay it off every month. I charge all groceries, drug store and gasoline/diesel purchases. This is because they pay me 6% on grocery and drug store purchases. They pay 3% back on gasoline.
This is in the form of a credit against next months balance.
You have to call them up and ask for the credit to be applied.
I wish I knew exactly how our credit score impacts other things. For example, I know peripherally that sometimes your credit score can impact your car insurance rate -- but I don't know exactly how. Is it just an increase for really low credit scores, or is it a discount only for really high credit scores? Perhaps there's a wide range of credit scores where there's no impact on our car insurance? Either way, I want to know how it impacts the math that impacts me. Same for if it impacts other things like life insurance, or background checks (i.e. if you volunteer with kids at church) or other things.
Discover used to be part of Morgan Stanley.
It always affects whether or not you get a job.
But they're going to let Capital One acquire Discover?

Membership has its privileges.
Not good news. Getting close to a monopoly, imo.
Anti-Trust Laws, what are those?
As if we need further proof that the Democratic Party is the real Party of the Rich.
I do the same thing and my credit score is 830. How are you a deadbeat? They make a transaction fee off everything you purchase every month. If you're like me and use credit card for everything (except weapons, ammo and liquor) then how aren't they making money off of you?
Likewise I’m a cc deadbeat. When I do use one, I pay the charge as soon as it posts not waiting for the end of the billing cycle. The longest a charge has been posted on either of my two cards is 4 or 5 days.
Same.
Capital One got Walmart away from Synchrony a while back-
Some smart cookies at that company.
Gonna get an even bigger Too Big To Fail bailout.
Because I earn 5% cash back on one card, and 2% back on the other. Charges paid off every month. No usury interest charges for the card companies.
Yes, The Sears Co. Started the Discover Financial Services Co. and then sold it off twenty years ago.
Yep- one major example of the Senator since he was 30 of DE- Joey Bags Biden the Senator from MBNA. A credit card company hustler to lure people into debt to these animals. No thanks but your point is well shown.
