The guy stole a Russian helicopter and flew it to the Ukrainians, sop he was a bonified traitor. The US would never have the stones to do what the Russians did to pay the traitor back.

Ukraine announced with great fanfare in August an intelligence operation that persuaded Kuzminov to fly his Mi-8 helicopter loaded with jet parts into Ukraine to defect. The two crew members with him were unaware of the plot and were shot by Ukrainian forces when they refused to surrender, according to officials. The Ukrainian government later announced that the pilot had received a $500,000 reward in local currency and encouraged other Russian service members to follow suit.

So the guy steals a helicopter, gets his two crew-mates (who were unaware) killed by Ukrainians, hands over jet engine parts to Ukraine (and the West) - and collects $500K blood money.

If I were his C.O., I would also want him dead for such treachery

How hard will Spain investigate?

The deaths of Putins political rivals seems to me to be benefitting American interests during this election year. An argument could be made that American covert ops could be behind the deaths.
