The Brits made a big mistake when they failed to understand the danger of letting Muslims take positions of power in the national and local governments. Muslims know that their religion demands their first loyalty.

How about, “From the River to the River,” All lands between the Jourdan and the Nile?

But much of Jordan was supposed to be part of Israel. Early 20th Century agreements were that the land would be split between Arabs and Jews, a two state solution. Jews would get the western half, and Arabs would get the eastern half. The Jews ended up with a tiny fraction of the land, and Jordan remained Arab. Even though Israel got the Sinai by conquest, they gave it back to Egypt to forge a peace between them. Otherwise all the land to the Nile would be Israeli. The Arabs don't want any land to belong to the Jews, period. I think one solution would be for an alliance with Saudi Arabia, against the Iranian proxy states. But not holding my breath for it to happen.
