Thanks for that. Of course this article is about AMD stock (Advanced Micro Devices) and not AMC...but the AMC story sounds really interesting and I will check it out.

Thx much for heads up.

It pays no dividends. Don’t buy it.

I agree on principle, in this market—in most markets—dividends are desirable.

The key is to look at the financials; troubled companies sometimes use big dividends as a lure to draw stock investment. In poorly managed company, this does not end well for the investor.

If you can afford a Morningstar subscription, their tools for the investor are quite good.

“Love your tagline. One of my favorite movies.”

Thanks
I have self build AMD CPU computers for years. But starting 2104 it has been intel. The sleep function never worked right in AMD based. I am glad to see they are doing great.

And Nvidia they fab it all at 3 nano at TSMC in Taiwan

So your AI tools are "trained" on your own proprietary database?

If that is the case, can a company buy external data and add to its database (keeping everything safe behind its firewall)?

I have seen your previous here on N. You are good, just so long as you don’t show your stacks of Benjamin’s https://twitter.com/BrightSideHT/status/1524060522097872897

GameStop was the first and more successful counter to big hedge funds shorting a few companies. Some ametures figured out, in game stop instance, there was more shorts than could technically be valid. Naked shorts. The hammered a couple of hedge funds even with brokers doing all kinds of crazy things to stop the little guys.

I'm not gonna pull a Fanny Willis and keeps stacks of cash in the house.;-)

Running a little portfolio is like growing pine trees. Your wealth isn't convertible into cash unless you sell...and that defeats the purpose.

I still drive a 1997 Nissan Hardbody pickup with a standard transmission and roll-up windows.

My relatives ask me, "Why don't you at least buy a new car?" My response, "No cash."

And I like my truck.

Yes. We’ve spent decades creating product specific Knowledge Bases...some customer viewable if they’re licensed for it. The AI was integrated to streamline article creation and searching for us plus more. And if a company wanted to do the same, I see no reason they couldn’t. But our data is proprietary and don’t see any avenue where they could buy that and popoulate their own DBs...if I’m understanding your question properly.

“Dividends are double taxed”

Qualified dividends have a lower tax rate. Zero for MFJ earninf less than $89,250.

This is not AMC related thread.

I think dividends are a very mixed bag. The real issue is overal return. Dividend stocks return much less total return (dividend yield + increased stock value). IMO better to sell some gain to harvest money than to accept a diminished overal gain to get dividends. Both are taxable events. Dividends are one way of measuring the stability and earnings power of a company. That fact aside with disciple one can do much better with growth stocks.

Just comparing two Vanguard ETF
Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF 12.52% total yield 5yr
Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF 19.59% total yield 5yr

Trailing returns represent shareholders' gain or loss from a stock over a given period of time. Returns include both capital gains and losses (the increase or decrease in the stock price) and income (in the form of dividend payments). They are calculated by taking the change in the stock's price, reinvesting all dividends, dividing by the initial stock price, and expressing the result as a percentage. Returns for periods longer than one year are annualized.

Edge is a great movie and Alec Baldwin is a great villain. Screen play by David Mamet.

The Edge is a decent and really good looking survival thriller. The landscape is beautiful, but what keeps this film from completely failing are its two stars, Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. Their performances aren’t Oscar caliber stuff, but the film doesn’t really call for that.

Yep. Great catharsis story.

The "Game" was similar. Great illustration of the power of rebirth.

Hedge funds managers always admit that they trade instead of buy and hold because investors who buy and hold don't need hedge funds...they can just buy the good stocks themselves and sit on them.

Indeed. Trading generates fees. I have seen numbers that indicate you're better off with a fund that does nothing but mirrors the S&P500
