“Dominates a lot of Spain” is an overstatement. I’ve tranveled extensively in Spain, and it is a big country with 47 million people.

In the southern region of Andalusia where the Muslims held out the longest, there’s old Moorish architecture in the relatively small historic centers of a handful of cities (Seville, Cordoba and Granada) as well as some smaller towns. Ultimately, even in Andalusia, we’re talking about a very tiny proportion of the region. In the middle of country, there are bits of old mosques scattered here and there in old cities like Toledo. In Barcelona, you’d think know the Moors were ever there (and in fact, they were just barely there, for like a few decades)

Bottom line... it’d be more accurate to say that Muslim architecture dominates the tourist highlights reels of the Andalusia region.
