You keep changing your tune
Russia has been threatening NATO countries since before their second invasion of Ukraine
You are a Holocaust denier, eh?
“Russia has been threatening NATO countries since before their second invasion of Ukraine”
And now we know why. Anyway, have fun fighting Russia, I expect them to start with European cities.
We have known why Russia has been threatening NATO countries since Putin came to power.
Putin wants to recreate the Tsarist empire - and you support that.
Love the maps, but what do they tell us about today?
What the maps tell us is (1) there are few natural borders. So, lines have been moving after every war for centuries.
(2) That, without natural borders, aggressors keep advancing until they meet an equal power. With German unification, this was Germany. Prior to that, it was France. Prior to that, Sweden. Prior to that, the Mongols (from the east). Upon the decline of the Mongols, Moscovy emerged, eventually to become the Russian Empire.
(3) The maps also show us that we are engaged in a great experiment to see if lessor nations can retain their sovereignty with mutual defense. This proxy war is the first real test of this idea.
I think we agree that at the time of the dissolution of the USSR, Ukrainians were more or less o.k. with being oriented to Moscow. Some time later, the western, Ukrainian-speaking part thought, no, let’s align with the west.
As for the eastern, Russian-speaking part, we might infer from voting that they resisted re-alignment. But, I don’t think the issue of Moscow versus the west was clear to Russian-speaking Ukrainians. But, with the war, yes, the issue has become clear. It seems to me, most Russian-speaking Ukrainians want to be Ukrainians, not Russians. Besides, look at Poland. See how prosperous and beautiful is Poland, with its distinctive history and culture. In contrast, Russia looks like it’s drifting into a Big North Korea. A third-world country with nukes.
“Putin wants to recreate the Tsarist empire - and you support that.”
Regardless of what I may or may not want, it does seem to me that Putin has no choice at this point, thanks to NATO’s non-stop EXPANSION and INTERFERENCE in his backyard, than to do just what you say he will.
NATO got new members like Finland and Sweden because they feared Russian invasions.
Looking at Russian invasions of its neighbours, they are correct to fear this and want yo band in an alliance to prevent Russia invading.
Russia gets pssed off when its it’s intended targets join NATO, preventing Russia from invading
Whatever, the Neocons wanted a war in Ukraine, THEY GOT IT!
