Democrat demands Public Utilities Commission to keep energy costs (to consumers) down . . .

Democrat command economist demands (usually through regulations) that the cost of producing energy must rise.

Not trees, but mud-brick huts like they lived in in Somalia

The ore is presently shipped, starting on Lake Superior, on long (500’, or so) ‘ore boats’ that barely fit through the longest Soo Lock that goes into Lakes Huron and Michigan. The boats are much longer than ocean freighters and would break up in ocean swells. Remember the Edmund Fitzgerald, which broke up in a storm on lake Superior? It was a loaded ore boat and sunk in water that was shallower than its length. This all limits its market to only states bordering the Great Lakes and Canada. Those are mostly bluer than the lake water.

And the people responsible for the accompanying destruction of the industrial base in MN will suffer few, if any, consequences for their fecklessness.

Sure... and I pay a bunch more than that too. However, there is a difference between a residential rate and an industrial rate and that is consistent in every state including the formally great state of Kalifornia.

Rates also vary by total usage and voltage delivered.

Homes get single phase 120/240V.
Depending on size/usage, they get 3 phase 120/240 delta, 277/480 Y, or most likely 12.47/13.3/34/69kV and possess their own transformation.
Primary customers get a lower rate for that.

Because India has slaves and live in filth.
Blaming unions is only a part of the issue.
