--- "...what do senior White House sources say."

The issue of sources for any and all "news" is interesting. In this case, those "four unnamed sources" "told the news website Verstka," and so this is pass-through reporting. Recall the Pelosi talk about how this works?

So what of Verstka, the intermediary on which this article is based?

Many "Ukrainian" and "Russian" sites being relied on in this time are resident in and hosted by and privacy protected by American internet companies. One of them is "verstka.media."

And of Arctic Business Journal, operated by Arctic Today, it is involved with Norwegian media, as it states of itself: " Covering innovation in the Arctic Region and the countries that touch it."

Amusingly, when one uses a service to translate, the Verstka team says of itself, "It was founded by independent journalists and part of the gender literacy project team."

That is a small but pertinent observation in the larger picture.

Another small point. One of the authors of the Verstka article is noted as "Olesya Gerasimenko," who it turns out writes also for the BBC, for example:

At BBC's Russian language site: Olesya Gerasimenko

Olesya Gerasimenko At Columbia University

These people are the same ones who support a regime that is allied with Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Iran, Syria, etc.

You mean biden, obumber or zeepers? because I contend that they are all products of biden, obumber and zeepers.

They’ve probably spent the past year making or buying the weapons and equipment for the mobilization.

Expect Ukraine to be captured later this year.

Flat out a lie! We, as Americans, are the ones who introduced cluster bombs into Ukraine.

Educate yourself Russia(nor Ukraine) is a signer of the Convention on cluster munitions. Russia continues to produce cluster munitions and used at least two new types of them during the invasion (along with old stocks).

During the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army used at least 6 types of cluster munitions: missiles for multiple rocket launchers "Hurricane", "Smerch", "Tornado-S", missile systems "Tochka" and "Iskander-M", as well as RBC bombs -500 with PTAB-1M submunitions.

Yes, we supplied cluster munitions to Ukraine, which has ONLY used them against Russian soldiers/vehicles and not against cities.

At this point all this is about is Russia not loosing face by being defeated by a smaller country. It’s time for Russia to cut their loses and go home.

Russia is a pariah country. It will remain that way even after the war ends and when Putin is no longer in power.

--- "Yes, we supplied cluster munitions to Ukraine, which has ONLY used them against Russian soldiers/vehicles and not against cities."

Partly fact and partly unfalsifiable assertion. But to fill in the factual part further:

What are cluster bombs and why is US sending them to Ukraine? BBC, 10 July 2023

What are the cluster munitions the US is supplying Ukraine with and why are they so controversial? CNN, 9 July 2023

The U.S. is sending cluster bombs to Ukraine despite humanitarian warnings NPR, 7 July 2023

Why the US is willing to send Ukraine cluster munitions now AP, 6 July 2023

Biden Defends 'Difficult' Decision to Send Cluster Munitions to Ukraine NHY Times, 7 July 2023

Currently the land war involving artillery-delivered cluster bombs has not crossed far into Russia, and aerial delivery seems out of the question in the moment. But certainly shelling of civilians and other collateral damage has been seen on both sides. War is war, and losses are losses, and destruction is destruction.

Get it done. Enough from these Ukrainian terrorist, kill em all!

I'm opposed to foreign aid, including to Ukraine. But if these were Ukrainians, I don't blame them. Russia has killed civilians in Ukraine. Ukraine is simply opening another front.

C'est la guerre.

Yes, I'm proud Trump was the first to supply Ukraine with weapons-Javelins, allowing Ukraine to defend itself.

US spent 5% of its defense budget last year on aid to Ukraine, trapping the #2 military power Russia, in an endless war in Ukraine, resulting in the destruction of half of the Russian military might without the injury or loss of one US soldier.

I'm not a zeeper.

I've been as critical of Zelensky as anyone else on FR. I've often been called a Putinista.

Seems now I'm a Putinista and a Zeeper.

Truth is, I'm an old-fashioned American Firster who sees valid arguments -- and wrong-doings -- by both sides in this war.

You justify this kind of terrorism, that makes you the scum of the earth as far as I'm concerned.
