Do you suppose that they will be smart enough to use the original plans/specs and rebuild it just as it was before last Tuesday?

You just KNOW that all manner of insincere, attention seeking politicians (of all stripes and jurisdictions) will try to get involved and muck the whole thing up, unless told and forced to stay out of it!

And, we can certainly count on multiple intra/inter-government squabbles effing up the bridge rebuild!

That is ALL we can count on!

the company will try to reduce liability by using the 1851 maritime liability law still on the books.

Don’t worry, it will take 10 years and 10 billion cost overrun to fix it.

no more bridges; the solution would be a "Fairy Across The Mersey" approach, with a series of giant ferrys used to move cars and trucks across the open space.

It can be named after Dylan Mulvaney or Pete Buttegieg, as the powers that be choose. Of course, the news reports about backups at the Buttegieg Ferry would have to be worded politely and with a straight face.

I’m sure the local unions won’t be happy about a cost-effective budget for the repairs/replacement.

It should not cost a penny more than what it cost to build.(adjusted for inflation.) The anchors are there. The design and engineering are done and on file. Install provisions to prevent it again and finish quick.

Hahahaha. I know. Ain’t gonna happen. Too much grift.

It’s really not that hard to fix.

First eliminate unneeded environmental studies as this is a replacement not new.

Most of the bridge is intact on either side of the collapse. no need to replace those sections just inspect to ensure there is no major damage

Pull out the old design and rebuild. The bridge worked fine

Install new dolphins that actually protect the bridge from the new very large cargo ships.

If there were competent people running the show this could be done in two years or less.

There is no hope this will happen
