I’m ready...these last 3 days have been trying with explanations done over and over and over, to no avail. LOL!
My bed is calling me.
Hai Kathy! (((Hugs))) I’m in โบโบ
Not really the same. You’ve had strong winds where it’s been breezy here. And it’s swampy where you’ve had no rain. This is the first wind advisory this week and I hope it doesn’t get too bad.
I’m ready for the weekend when the weather will be nice.
Yes, had a great time at the museum. It was a high school class that came through and they were a great bunch of kids.
So it's been the same ol' same ol' this week. LOL Gotta wonder what pool they draw from for employees. They can't seem to find anyone with comprehension skills.
The bed is probably screaming at you. Give in to the siren song early tonight. :-)
Good evening, Pro...hope your spring continues on pace.
We are still having intemittent snow storms. Everything was all white again this morning. Even tho the temps stayed below freezing all day, we had enough sun to melt most of it.
Well, you’re right. I’m glad you didn’t have our weather. It sucked all around! LOL
Glad you had fun. It’s good to hear that there are high school kids who aren’t destroyers. I hope they learned a lot about the history of our country/military.
Today I attended Conor MacNessa’s interment in Arlington National Cemetery. For this event I shaved my 9-year beard and donned the uniform I wore for so many years in respect for Tom and his family.
His family, like mine, have several generations who went before into Arlington.
Having been on FR for a very long time, I will try tomorrow to figure out how to post pictures.
Tom and Mary Frances, I raise my glass of the best Irish in honor of you two, and what you have achieved and supported.
I thank FreeRepublic for bringing us together.
Prayers for Mary Frances and the family.
Our weather has sucked all around too. LOL Just in a different way from yours. Not been the nicest week.
I have a feeling a lot of those kids will be back on opening day. We told them about the owner of the cannons plans to be there to fire a few volleys, weather permitting. That got ‘em pumped.
They just finished studying WWII in history class and are getting ready to start on the Vietnam War so Mike concentrated on artifacts from those two eras. He touched on a lot of others too. We both talked about Camp Forrest and the TN Maneuvers, which is local WWII history. The kids were very attentive the whole time.
All the high school kids who go through for class tours are great kids and they really enjoy seeing things they’ve read or heard about up close and personal.
I got lucky. LOL
Got THEM pumped? LOL! I don’t think anyone could be as pumped as you are about hearing those cannons go off. You’d die happy if he let you fire one off. :)
I’m glad that there are still schools actually TEACHING history. Seeing it first hand with all those wonderful pieces of the real thing will make an awesome impression.
Mike was pretty matter-of-fact when he mentioned it at the end of the tour but I did toss in my 2 cents worth. I was much more jazzed about it and it lit a lot of the kids’ faces up, and several said they want to be there for it.
It’s all in the presentation. LOL
They do teach history around here. We have a lot of school tours these days, with teachers going back each year with that year’s new batch of students. Elementary students up through high school. One teacher in Murfreesboro shows up twice a year. He teaches one bunch of students first semester and teaches a whole new bunch second semester.
They all appreciate having some place to take the students to see the artifacts because it helps bring what they’re learning to life. That helps perk up their interest in history in general.
Good evening/morning, Mayor...we made it thru hump day. Hurrah for us!
Thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
Yesterday at Wichita Ridge:
How's everyone doing this morning?
That little museum is growing and getting a wonderful reputation for being interesting, historic and patriotic. Can’t beat that combo! You guys should all be proud to have helped it happen!
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Glad to see you and Gizmo were able to head out to Wichita Ridge for some fun yesterday. I thought you might get rained out of the day’s adventures.
It’s fulfilling Mr. Werner’s wishes, which is our mission statement .... “A facility to remember and honor our veterans and to teach history to our younger generations.”
It’s been a pleasure and an honor for all of us to be a part of it as it’s grown. It’s hard to believe I’m starting my 7th full year there. Doesn’t seem that long at all. I started towards the end of the first year it opened when I was asked to clean up the uniforms and other items brought up from Tupelo.
I've got to do some lawnmowing sometime today. The grass is growing from all this rain.
Also it's our birthday weekend. I turn 60 on Saturday. My niece over in South Carolina also has a birthday that day too.
And, my mom was born this week in 1930. She would be 93 this week.
So, it's a week of birthdays in my family.
We do plan on going to Chisolm Trail Park later today.
