Need to fire way more than a hundred. They need to be completely gutted. We saw the photos of all those fat young woke agents kneeling as BLM walked by. A hundred would barely touch the home office. The entire DC office needs to go along with the practice of not assigning an agent to run a field office unless they have done a rotation in DC.
They should be stripped of the civil rights division, and of all investigative powers against local police departments and government officials.
The NEW FBI should be minimal. State resources utterly eclipse what they were in the 1930s. There is little to no need for a National Police Department.
The FBI should be reduced to the very basics. Kidnapping, bank robbery, foreign spies, low end bank scams etc.
This new FBI should be lead by a law enforcement professional, not a lawyer or US Attorney or Judge. No FISA no 702.
After what they have done, they should be stripped of anything even remotely associated with politics.
Every remaining FBI employee should also be frozen, no transfers to any other agency. They should be watched with the highest scrutiny, bodycams, etc.

True. The FBI had a carefully constructed image by Hoover designed to fool the public into believing it could be trusted.
If kept, they should be a VERY closely watched bank robber and kidnapping police for a while. After a decade or two of no scandals, maybe they can be used for something else.
Ideally, they should be reduced to a small technical and coordinating unit with the mission of providing SUPPORT to state agencies. They should never have power over a state law enforcement agency.
This would also work to restore the Federalism in our republic. At the time the FBI was created, cops chasing a bank robber or killer literally stopped at the state line. States were almost like small nations. Now with so much power centralized in DC, states have waned in influence.
Clipping the FBI back should be done in a way that returns those powers to the states where they rightfully belong.
The Eastwood movie “J. Edgar” explores that in detail.

I would like to know how much money from govt coffers is paid to Television and Movies to make stories with the FBI in it. They just can’t quit making these series, and they show them in the most heroic light.
Regular cops though, have only Tom Sellecks show to highlight normal policing, although it does highlight some bad too.
The FBI though is shown as sparkling clean, the highest ethics, with brilliant agents and leadership. PURE PROPAGANDA.
QUIT WATCHING THEM, you are helping to perpetuate a lie. That the FBI and federal govt police are clean as a houndstooth, and only go after the bad guys.
The FBI has always been the KGB. That's why it was founded.
I could see firing the entire FBI Washington office. No transfers, immediately leave government service.
Then slowly repopulate it with field office people with a good record on actual criminal investigations.
Do FBI personnel take an oath to PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION?
If so the people in field offices are NOT REQUIRED to obey “ILLEGAL ORDERS”!
