The conflict in Donbas started when the Russians backed the militias from the ethnic Russian minority, not by an attack against the Russian speakers. Putin has been salivating about taking the the Donbas and he used the events of 2014 as an excuse.

Yeah, a bunch of super nationalists march around with Nazi flags to show their opposition to Russian oppression. Meanwhile Russia invades and bombs another country. But we should be worried about some fringe groups waving flags. And, by the way, ignore the country that is still using Communists flags. Stalin was not that bad, after all.
