Unlike you, I was tested for my reading comprehension ability ( albeit many decades ago, in college, as part of a class, as were everyone else who had to take that class ) and got 100%. Which age has not dulled in the least.

Little boys are too restless at that age.
The result is, those little boys tune out, and develop
decidedly negative traits as it relates to studying.
I have a family member that became the Director of the
Education department for a parochial school system in
the state of Texas.
She stated that boys get into the right grove around
seven and pick up after that.
These rules are geared to turning our little kids into
brains full of mush on social issues.
