Rather can lie and Toobin can get way too excited about it.
Let’s hope so.
But I was thinking of the importance of FR in the social media sphere.
Buckhead recognized and showed that the letter fonts were MSWord defaults, not office typewriter. It became a big thread on FR which was picked up by Drudge and others, and made its way into the pro-Repub media, and eventually into the rest of the media.
Today more than likely, even if it started on FR, it would expand as a viral thread on Twitter, and go from there.
Dan had to decide. Punch the time clock and die or go back to pimpin’ liberalism for SeeBS. One was just as bad as the other.
Twitter is mostly a way to push and does not work quite as well as a place for discussion and collaborative analysis.
Uncle Walter is calling you to join him, Dan
“...a botched investigation into then-President George W. Bush’s military record.”
The Post is being way kinder to Blather than he deserves. He lied outright and tried to foist a fraudulent scam built on a counterfeit document on the US. He lost all sense of honor and integrity when he decided he was a star instead of a reporter.
Walter Cronkite -- The last TV "news" reader who had once been a real journalist. But that was not on TV.
Dan Rather -- The last TV "news" reader to pass as a real journalist. Until he didn't.
I found it was very similar after they doubled the comment length.
But these were discussions amongst like minded people, not taunting Tranny’s, or NAFO fools, or Judy Woodruff (which is what got me kicked off).
Ask him, “Would you Rather be Toobin’?”
The fake Draft Dodging letter was the first time that I saw what has now become ROUTINE for the media, which is to tell lies non-stop (Ukrainian winning, Russian collusion, Serbian atrocities, etc.), get PROVEN WRONG, and then simply walk away like it never happened.
The Russian ‘collusion’ one was the most developed in that the media claimed they had INSIDERS feeding them FACTS - well, one of two things happened: Either the ‘facts’ were flat-out lies, or there were never these ‘insiders’. I lean strongly toward the first - that the media was being fed lies, as trying to stay on message with every network making up different stories (second possibility) simply could not have worked.
And thus that leads to the question of why didn’t the media ‘out’ their sources after being LIED TO??? Seems like a reasonable response from an ANGRY a media that wants to be taken more seriously in the future than, say, Tass reporting on the success of the latest Soviet 5-year plan (while the stores remained empty). But they didn’t...why not?
My theory is the media realizes that they have a base of people, probably half the country (including, apparently, some here) that believe EVERYTHING that the media says...and that’s sufficient for them to have a huge effect on what happens in the US and other Western countries...so they’ve settled on that approach. For example, one could only IMAGINE how the Ukraine War would have gone if the media had instead taken Russia’s side...would have ended in weeks.
The lefts fear of Trump is growing and it’s a good thing they need to pay for their rigging and communism platform.
Kicked off Twitter — just had to slip that brag in, didn’t you!
Has Mister Rather ever issued an unqualified and comprehensive confession and apology or was he a (cough, cough) victim?
Clarification invited.
Being a disgrace clearly stopped being a disqualifying criterion a long time ago.
I hope they hire him as their anchor again. Appropriate in the present climate.
Go to hell Dan.
It was the second time, actually.
I was kicked off during the extreme censorship Regime prior to Elon.
Then many of us we were let back on after Elon took over.
But I was kicked off again for trolling Judy Woodruff over QAnon.
