'Clindit'
The Wall Street Journal ^ | CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS

Posted on 09/06/2001 9:18:24 PM PDT by VinnyTex

Edited on 04/23/2004 12:03:29 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

"Clindit." The combo name has a vague but appropriate indecency to it. Even those who repudiate the parallelism are compelled to run a sort of check-off list to reassure themselves that there isn't any real comparison between Gary Condit and Bill Clinton. (And it must say something about the "legacy" of our most recent ex-president that this uncouth auction of comparable features is most forcibly suggested by mentions of the suborning of perjury and the obstruction of justice.) How far may the analogy be extended?

Hitchens can be a horse's ass at times, but as one of the very few liberals who was unwilling to participate in Clinton's sleazy war against his female accusers, he will always have a place in my heart.

This is one brutal article. Christopher has outdone himself.

I was reminded of Clinton's three rapes-something that haunts me to this day.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand how hillary rodbutt clinton can stand to be linked thru marriage to a man she knows very well has hurt, my gosh, RAPED other women.

It chills me-and causes me to distrust this women with all of my heart. What type of heinous, shallow, driven creep would STAND for her husband to RAPE other human beings. Makes me think the clintons have done MUCH MUCH worse than rape, for rape to be such an accepted, and without consequence, part of their past.

This article highlights the true evil of what Clinton was more so than what a pathetic liar Condit is.

The reminders of the rapes, cruise missile attacks against innocents to deflect attention, abuse of public employees, abuse of power, perjury, and outright shamelessness remind us of what a nightmare he was.

Congressman Condemn tried to immitate him. He just isn't good at it.

Ah, I beg to differ, although I hate to, the article is wonderful. However, two young girls did accuse Condit of raping them several years ago. They fled Sacramento area and ended up in the Pacific Northwest because they feared for their lives. But I guess Christopher hasn't heard this one.
It is true that Gary just doesn't have the "charm" of Bill Clinton, or the media adoration. I kept thinking as I was watching the interview with Connie that he just wasn't able to pull it off like Elvis, I mean Clinton did.

Just a guess on the psychology: Hillary loved bill. He hurt her terribly (humiliation, lost interest in her physically and emotionally.) Now he messes around and sometimes even rapes other women.

I suggest that hillary feels
1) that those sluts deserved it for scr*wing him when they know he's married to her and
2)he "still cares" about her because he doesn't RAPE HER. Sick and sad.

There's two kinds of Southern males. The Clinton kind learn to act like the good kind - fake bonhomie and caring about other people. Condit somehow didn't learn to fake it as well as Clinton. I also believe Condit's wife lacks the vile Borgia-like ability to scheme and plot, and delight in infamy - enjoying trampling on the concepts of decency - if you like doing something, you're going to be better at it. Condit's guile didn't get recharged at home like Clinton's did - "cherchez la femme", and Condit's didn't produce for him.

I got some interesting info on FOXNews this a.m. Apparently Dickie Gephardt has been meeting with some Reps.(whose names were kept secret) about Condit. Wonder why the secrecy? Are these some of the Reps. in the alleged sex party circle? Is Gephardt really dumb enough to think those names will stay secret?

And Fox's camera crew caught two of Billy Martin's investigators leaving the Hill yesterday after visiting offices there? Who were they there to see? Were they asking about Condit or about the people Gephardt was meeting with?

I have a sneaking suspicion Condit is going to take a lot of Congress critters down with him whether he intends to or not. Goody.

Anybody notice that "Dickie" is now being called "Richard" by newspeople? I wonder if that's by his request - didn't like being referred to as "Little Dick" anymore ;-)

I have a sneaking suspicion Condit is going to take a lot of Congress critters down with him whether he intends to or not.

That's what B-1 Bob Dornan has been saying - that he's got the goods on a lot of them, and that's why there's so little call for him to resign.

Mr. Condit has not used public money or public officials (let alone cruise missiles against Sudan) in order to protect himself from scrutiny.

Ahem, using his chief of staff qualifies as using a public official to protect himself. He tried to use campaign contributions for his legal fees. If he could have found a way to launch cruise missiles, he would have.

He's as despicable as clintbilly, just as scheming, but not as lucky.

I love Christopher Hitchens when he goes after clintbilly.

That is one blistering article!

I have developed a new term of late that I notice is becoming a habit. I catch myself calling certain people "bill clinton" I didnt pay much attention to it till I caught myself applying the term to two of my sons friends. I did not say anything to anyone but in my mind I have both of these 10 year olds pegged as bill clintons when I normally would have just thought of them eddie haskells

I don't think he is, anymore. Amphetemines, probably, but not coke. It'd be too much for someone in the spotlight as much as he is.

Clinton is unequivically self-centered. This is why he succeeds where others fail. There are many reasons for this, but he has developed a singlular lack of guilt for his actions. Everything he does is right because he does it. Condit still has pangs and twinges of guilt.

Clinton is a rare bird, indeed.

While Hitchens can be a real Brit Twit, he is, alas, an honest liberal. He was way out in front of many media pundits in seeing the Clintons for what we all know them to be.

For this article he gets this week's "HA-BANG" award for hitting the nail on the head.

Well, not counting the unverified story of two teens who escaped to Alaska, at least Clindidit II Crown Prince was into consensual fun and games, even if some of them, like the stuff they did with the M&M's, could result in accidental death and dismemberment by a Haitian transvestite biker. But hey, it was consensual! Just tell us what you did with the M&M's, Barry K, if that's your real name!

Condit overestimated his power as a sitting congressman..
As 1/535th of a political body, he had nowhere near the influence exerted by or of the influence wielded by a sitting president..

As Chris Cox mentioned when questioned regarding the stealth and pressure of the means used to delete pertinant information from the "Cox Report" -he said 'never underestimate the power of a sitting president.'

Eileen Wellstone, a British girl, when he was in Oxford. Police were informed and, because a Rhodes scholar was involved, the State Department sent someone to investigate and smooth it over. Parents decided not to press charges because it was a he said/she said thing where he claimed consensual sex. Shortly thereafter Clinton left England without completing his course.

I think rape fits into the Clinton persona as a feature of total victory over others. Armies often rape, loot, and murder as side-benefits of their military conquests. Boy Clinton was not a pacifist, just a coward. He was not against war. He was just against a particular war where he might get hurt. His terror when facing crowds in Africa (caught on tape) was a good example of his personal courage. Lady Macbeth is much worse, because she has always been the keeper of the beast. I doubt whether anyone could find a couple more heartless and evil. Shame on us for electing and re-electing them.
