Howlin,

I am heartbroken about Barbara. She was as fine a woman as there has ever been.

Thank you for introducing me to her. I FReepmailed with her several times. She was an absolute angel.

GOD bless her and her family.

Even though I did not know Barbara Olson personally, I feel I have lost a friend. Certainly truth, honesty and freedom have lost a staunch ally.

How terribly sad - such a waste of her life and the countless other victims of these lunatics.

May God bless the dead and dying as well as their survivors. And may God bless America.

Barbara was so full of energy and life, and she was so committed to her country. She was a bright, wonderful and thoughtful person. And I know she loved all of you. This is a tremendous personal and national loss. Barbara was everything you all say she was, times 1000. A great friend. May God bless her and her grieving husband, Ted. Devastating. And may God bless all those wonderful, innocent people who lost their lives today.

"...think of the act of war this entailed: they attacked the WTC, which is the financial nerve center (bond houses, brokerages etc.) of our nation; the Pentagon - the military nerve center of our nation;"

Obviously a long-planned, well-thought out attack, but I really don't know what they could have possibly thought they were going to accomplish. This will awaken a sleeping giant in a way that no other event really could!! There is EVIL in this World, and I believe the Middle East fanatics have just demonstrated where much of this EVIL is located.

"...the State Department - the diplomatic nerve center of our nation"

I had heard that alleged car bomb outside the State Department was denied...have you heard differently?

"...and God knows where that other plane that crashed in Pennsylvania was headed (the Sears Tower?) before its plans were foiled by a heroic passenger or the U.S. military."

I heard a rumor that it was headed to Camp David, but have seen no confirmation.

"This REALLY is war, and I'm not a rabble rouser, but Arabs need to die. Many will be innoncent, but that's war. We need to strike hard, and nuclear strikes on Tehran and Baghdad, and hell-fire surgical strikes on Palestine and terrorist bases worldwide are not actions I would have one regret over. NOT ONE. What more could they do?"

There's got to be a way to prove Muslim Fanatic involvement, and once it is demonstrated, I agree with you 100%. Any MidEastern Government that has not demonstrated itself as being 100% against the years and years of Muslim Fanatic terrorism should feel our wrath. These groups would not exist except for the tacit approval of these governments and of many of the Sheeple in these Countries...they need to learn how hopeless their situation is when they decide to attack America.

"The Marine base in Lebanon .... Pan Am 103 ... The Khobar towers ... The African embassies .... The U.S.S. Cole ... The first Trade Center bombing. What in the world did we EVER do to these people???"

The Palestinians have never had a better buddy in power in America than when Bill Clinton was disgracing our White House, and they should have taken advantage of that anomoly when they had the opportunity. Now, Arafat and others need to be forced to pay for their bloodlust in no uncertain terms. "What did we EVER do to these people?!" Nothing, as far as I'm concerned!! But that shall soon change!!!

"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! Regards, friend. I'm ready for war. Sign me up if that's required, it's go time!! That's not an emotional reaction, that's a resolute feeling."

I'm with you, my FRiend. When I saw that first WTC building come tumbling down and thought about all the brave rescue workers who undoubtedly lost their lives trying to save others, I became ill, then almost uncontrollable anger!! My brother and his family are now stationed over in Germany and I'm going to be praying for his safety in the upcoming weeks and months as we determine the proper response to this travesty. May that response send a signal that no would-be terrorist--or Country that supports such terrorism--can ever misconstrue!!

Prayers for all America...MUD

Yep...the toll in lives and the general sense of self-security will no doubt grow ever-larger over the next few days and weeks. The loss of Ms. Olsen is but the tip of a huge iceberg, but a huge loss nonetheless.

"...may God have mercy on us all."

will any Arabs quench your thirst?

Here is who needs to die: All the members of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Tanzim, the PA leadership, the PLO, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Taliban, Osama bin Laden and his followers, Arafat, Saddam Hussein, Bashar Assad, Rafsanjani, and every radical Islamic cleric who has ever uttered the words "death to Americans" in a mosque, on the TV or radio or in print. They are all guilty of incitement to this violence.

Make no mistake about this. This is not a political war of Arabs vs Israel, it is a religious and cultural war that uses the political conflict as justification, because it is the only justifaction that the west would understand. But be clear about this, even before there was occupation these radicals wanted to kill Jews and destroy Israel. Even before Israel these radicals killed Jews in Palestine by the score. Do not believe their BS propeganda that occupation is the problem. There would be no occupation if not for their belligerence.

No, every single one of these Islamic fundamentalists who have perverted their good and decent religion into one of death and domination is now an enemy of America and is guilty of fostering and inciting violence against Americans. They as much as say so, but we choose to ignore them and think that this is a political conflict of Israeli vs Palestinian. It is not. It is good vs evil, it is the modern against the mideivel. It is the west vs these pan-islamic nationalists. May God bless us all.

Barbara Olson has another book coming out in October. It's titled: "The Final Days: A behind the Scenes Look at the Last, Desparate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House". It can be pre-ordered on Amazon.com. And she said on C-Span this past weekend that "Hell To Pay" is now available in paperback.

First off, I think you drew a bit much from what little I said. If I said too little or seemed intentionally vague, then I apologize. For the record, I of course support action against whoever is responsible, and I'm not suggesting we should wait around with our thumbs up our tails until something else happens. What I'm taking issue with is your broad, sweeping declaration that "Arabs should die". On a public forum like this you have to be careful with your words and presentation, and though I know where you're coming from, calling for the death of a certain people group seems to me an entirely careless thing to do. I'm not pansying around pretending that the majority of the the Muslim world doesn't strongly dislike us and wishes us harm, or that most of the Muslim governments don't go soft on (or entirely back) terrorists like these, but we can't go around bombing everyone who simply hates us. Instead of overreacting and calling for the death of all Arabs or Muslims, we should seek out those directly responsible. If it turns out that such-and-such government is behind this, then toast 'em.

In other words, to sum up my blathering, it's not your call to action I took issue with. It's your wording.

I said, I wonder if the evil Hillary is finding a sick, perverse pleasure out of this horrible news.

Note the words "I WONDER" and "Hillary." My words said nothing about LIBERALS bashing Ms. Olsen or her family. I was wondering specifically about what the evil Hildabeast might be thinking -- not any other liberals. Maybe you should actually read the words carefully before jumping to conclusions by generalizing my words beyond their intent.

I suggest you look over on some of the more liberal websites and see some of the tasteless comments about BKO. In advance, I will state that the type of comments made here about "why couldn't it have been ----- are nasty, mean and tasteless. I only wish Freepers would hold their tongues sometimes. Good natured poking fun at our opponets is one thing, wishing them ill is another.

That being said I bet that some of the posters are as incensed as I am buy the liberal blather on TV questioning President Bush's location and intelligence. It just grates on me that they get away with it and from there I think you get some of the nasty comments. Frustration

Fox News reported that Barbara Olsen was talking to her husband Ted TWICE on her cell phone before the plane crashed. She is reported to have told him that the hijackers were using some kind of KNIVES in the hijacking. How totally horrible for her husband to know this was happening and he could do nothing to save his wife! How terrible for Barbara and all the victims on all these planes - God be with all their loved ones.....how dearly they will all be missed. How terrible how terrible - dear God help Mr. Olsen and all who knew and loved Barbara!

Bless you for sharing with us.

When Barbara came to Atlanta to speak before a Federalist Society luncheon, I was thrilled to be able to attend. Before the luncheon started, I wanted to primp just a bit, and dashed to the ladies room where.....the prettiest lady you ever saw was already there...Barbara Olson...and not the least bit embarrassed to have me gushing over her in the loo. She was so sweet, even made me believe she really had read some of my FR comments, and everytime afterward when we corresponded, I found out how truely gracious she was.

One of conservatism's most intelligent voices has been silenced, but I'm a better woman for having read, listened to, and learned from, Barbara Olson. She sat so proudly behind her husband at his confirmation hearing. My heart is broken for Ted Olson, and all who loved Barbara.

I saw the car bomb thing denied, then 4 hours later is was still on the timeline of the scroll on Fox and MSNBC. Actually, there is VERY little coverage of the Pentagon either. The media can't get close to either one. I hope the car bomb thing was wrong .... in retrospect, it doesn't add up with the MO of other evil.

I'm signing off for a while ... I'm not thinking straight.

My profound sadness as well upon hearing about Ms. Olsen. She was a beautiful, intelligent and righteous lady. She'll be missed dearly.

I wonder if I could have had the ability to call someone and give them the information. Barbara was a warrior, and although I never had a chance to talk with her (and never will), she was able to give us some idea of what happened, and that will help.

I hope he takes some consolation from this in his time of grief.

from DRUDGE: "Ananova :

"Passenger phoned husband moments before Pentagon crash

A passenger managed to reach her husband on her mobile phone moments before American Airlines flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon.

Barbara Olson, a commentator for CNN and wife of US Solicitor General Theodore Olson, was one of 58 passengers on the Boeing 757. They had been herded to the back of the plane along with the four flight attendants and two pilots. In two brief and furtive conversations with her husband, Olson, 46, gave a few details about the plane's hijackers, CNN reported.

She mentioned that there was more than one, but the only weapons she described were knives and cardboard cutters, the network said. "What do I tell the pilot to do?" a frightened Olson pleaded.

Theodore Olson was able to alert the Justice Department's command centre of the hijacking in progress, but it was too late to help his wife and the other people aboard the plane. They were all killed when the airliner smashed into the Pentagon."

Story filed: 23:00 Tuesday 11th September 2001"

The recounting you've posted raises a scenario that I have been trying to figure all day: what happened on that plane that crashed outside Pittsburgh.

The conversation between Barbara and Ted, haunting and heartbreaking as it is, may be a clue as to what happened on that separate, particular flight. It sounds like the terrorists simply commodeered Barbara's plane using fairly crude and defensable weapons, killing no crew in the process, and probably assuring the passengers that they were just taking the plane to a safe location. If the passengers knew they were going to die - and take 10,000 other Americans with them - they certainly would have stormed the cockpit against knives and boxcutters. I would have. Grab a seat cushion and go for it. I'm a dead man anyway, so there's nothing to lose, and everything to gain, if the cockroaches can be overpowered and the crew reinstated.

I'm thinking that someone on that Newark-based flight got word (via news pager or cell phone) of the first three suicide crashes, figured out the score, and perhaps stormed the cabin to the ultimate tragic end. A crash in barren woods outside Pittsburgh was certainly not planned by the scumdogs ... either passengers fought for their lives and those of other innocents, or the military shot that plane down before it could reach its intended destination. I suspect there was some heroism on that flight we will never know about, and it probably saved thousands of people in the process.

It's all conjecture on my part, and whatever the circumstances of that flight, this has been a day of unimaginable outrage and evil. I believe in the righteousness of vengence, and more importantly .... that's something the Muslims understand intimately. They are waiting for the other shoe to fall, and if we show hesitation or weakness to drop that shoe, our lives and personal liberties will be under seige for the rest of whatever becomes of our nation's future. A defensive bunker mentality based on fear means one thing - a police state. That's unacceptable. Killing those who wish to kill us - that an unfortunate, but acceptable, alternative.

Absolutely I think you're right. The only thing that could have thwarted the plans of the terrorists on board those planes, (that I can imagine), is the active interference of passengers and/or crew.

I know the feeling...I've just been sitting here watching FoxNewsChannel and dismally failing to grasp the enormity of today's events. I mean, how can we even fathom how the folks in NYC are coping? And usually we'd be in mourning over the needless loss of life of any single airliner going down in a day...but four?! To say nothing of the symbol of our National Security--the Pentagon--being violated in such a dastardly way.

Just thirteen hours ago I was humpin' away at the office trying to get some projects moving along...now we're talking about Declaring War on Bin Laden and his fanatic followers. I couldn't help but give the wife and kids an extra long hug tonight...I pray for the families that cannot do the same for their loved ones.
