There are so many ways the 911 War could play out it is almost pointless ( altho entertaining ) to speculate... hopefully it will be the end, or lessening, of the recent political theatre ( insert DNC talking points here... "lock box," "for the sake of our children," etc. ) without the death of, or curbing of, more freedoms.
All I can counsel is, be very careful about what you agree to ceed to government, because you rarely get it back intact.
It is good counsel. That's why those responsible for these acts must be destroyed, or we trade freedom for security on a permanent basis.
I can't help thinking that many of those within our society, and recent governments, who have done the most to enforce tolerance for terrorists are now quite satisfied that they have taken this action.
There is nothing like a mind numbing crisis to allow expansion of government power over the people. Strangely, it is also much easier to apologize after the fact to the few who may be mistreated as a result of that expansion (Japanese internees) than to the larger citizenry who gave up their rights in the process (us).
Backhoe made a good point - once handed over, rights seldom return in any form you'd recognize.
I'm looking at my statement, and am wondering if it seems I am implying something potentially horrible.
I am not advocating rounding perceived ideological enemies up, imprisoning them, that sort of thing.
We should most certainly, (and unapologetically) see and call them for what they are......and educate people about this fact.
This appears to be the main thrust of the article....and he doesn't miss.
Luke 22:36 (KJV) --Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
Got sword? (M1 Garand ==>CMP)
No mercy, no quarter!
May the jihadists burn in hell for eternity!
Help speed them on their way!
Molon Labe!
Destroying those who attacked the Pentagon and The World Trade Center will be the only way to save the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
My comments certainly include the states that sponsored them as well. Not just bin Laden and his immediate cronies.
That old fence post will do the job ;^) It'd put a hole through bin Laden's skull and take out a few of buddies behind him too.
There is a point to the Garand - many Americans possess them based on a long standing US Government (gasp!) policy of testing for ability to use them then making them available in the event others needed to be trained.
That's an old, formerly antiquated, policy meant to insure that Americans could shoot back if necessary.
Think it might come back into vogue?
