Those that destroyed that WTC and the Pentagon were hedging their bets that our polititions would attack our freedom for them.

I think that those who attacked the WTC already attacked them for us.

I think you are underestimating the number of people who feel the same way as you do.

My "modesty" does occasionally stretch enough to post a soi-disant "vanity" essay, but this is the first time anyone else has picked up a Palace of Reason column and posted it here on his own initiative. I hope the sentiments expressed there are valid, and are worthy of the attention you've all showered on them. Thanks again.

My guess is that women's rights organizations will never criticize it, preferring instead to depict conservatives in this country as the one's who would opress "womens rights."

It would almost be worth it to set aside a state or two for the extreme anti-government types and liberals. We will only defend the states where people want freedom, the others can just go to the Islamics, and the Islamics can start straightening them out. I'd almost love to see the feminists put into some fat arab's harem, and the cowards who don't want to fight for their freedom can just lose it. The anti-US government types can see how great Islamic rule is for them.

You needn't feel compelled to explain posting your essays. Most people here use the slightest deviation in their normal thought process as an excuse to post their drivel. You post reasoned and well thought out work. I, for one, will always be glad to see it have it's own thread.

AntiTyrant, your jealousy is showing. I have written political pieces for my website, and I know how difficult it is to get the right tone and find the right words a la George Will, William F. Buckley, etc. It's impossible for me, and I am a published writer. Maybe Mr. Porretto's article doesn't achieve that zenith, either. Big deal! Build your own website and write some stuff that'll move people and add to the debate. Otherwise, quit criticizing.
