"Godbless The USA" (THE SONG)
oldgloryusa.com ^ | Les Greenwood

Posted on 09/17/2001 9:05:56 PM PDT by paltz

If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American where as least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,

From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, there’s pride in every American heart,
and it’s time to stand and say:

I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free.
And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S
.A.

I think some people on the board have been looking for this song by LES GREENWOOD, "GODBLESS THE USA". It's the bed that Fox has been playing during the montages of firefighters, cops, and rescueworkers.

Just scroll down to the middle of the page and you'll see it there.

ENJOY!

It was very nice of you to provide the lyrics for Freepers who want them, but, I hate this song! Something about Lee Greenwood just reminds me of a weasel. This is the kind of song NASCAR fans sing. Having to listen to this song is just one more reason I pray for a quick end to the war.

Have you forgotten how many NASCAR fans there are on this board? I thought Jim Rob was going to need more bandwidth when Dale Earnhardt died this past year.

You must be wrong. I do not think any self-respecting freeper would enjoy sitting in some stands with about a gazillion rednecks swilling Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and watching cars run around in a circle. Almost as witless a form of amusement as soccer IMHO. Saturdays nites are meant for poetry readings, watching foreign films,or drinking a cup of capuchino with your friends.

PS: I thought Dale Earnhardt died a long long time ago, like around 1940-1941? I do remember reading something about them finding a piece of her plane or a boot or something last year.

Right. . . and they sure wouldn't be caught dead marching with a bunch of handmade signs and bullhorns chanting, "Sore Loserman" either.

Umm.. I think most of us do.

You are very, very ill. And being from Arkansas, you probably get beat up alot.

P.S. I hope you are a woman. You are, right?

NASCAR fans also sing the National Anthem before each race. I mean, they really sing it. The last NFL game I went to most of the overweight rich slobs in the stands were too busy buying $10 beers to realize the game had even started. I'm not sure what your hobbies or loyalties are, but hating a song like "God Bless the USA" makes me think you must be into croquet and fashion shows. Whatever floats your boat, but I'd rather be selling American Flags to Afghan terrorists than spend an afternoon with a poofda like you. My opinion only.

No. I am a red-blooded sophisticated male. I even learned last month how to bait my own hook. (With artificial bait, of course)

O.K., then you're goofing on us right? A little humor here? That's cool.

No. No, I find NASCAR very gauche. They don't have any colors on the cars that you can't find in a Dr. Seuss book. Yellow, Red, Blue, White. You never see earth tone vehicles or pastels. Mauve over Terra Cotta Almond? Forget it. The numbers on the cars must represent the IQ's of the fans - 62, 87, 12...I mean how much sense does it take to watch a bunch of cars run around in a circle a couple of hundred times. I think that NASCAR fan's brains have been fried by the loud noise.

Do your homework. We had rallies in Times Square during the FLA fiasco.

We had plenty of anti-hezbolla and anti- hillary rallies outside of her headquarters.

And the only dead New Yorkers I saw this week were the ones jumping out of those towers.

You're right. Sarah Burnheart the famous one-legged female flier. Mea Culpa. I am not good on names and faces.

"Gee, I never thought of that."

You need to hang around more coffee shops and read poetry.
