WASHINGTON The Pentagon on Wednesday ordered combat aircraft to begin moving to bases in the Persian Gulf area, the first concrete sign of preparations to retaliate for last week's terrorist attacks, a senior defense official said.

The combat aircraft will be preceded by teams of Air Force air controllers who will coordinate the refueling of the fighters and bombers as they deploy from the United States to the Gulf region, the official said.

Loaded with pork, I hope, as well as some tactical nukes.

Shephard Smith (Fox News) does not know his military aircraft. He kept referring to F-16 & F-15 jets on the carrier. (Oh well)

You can't post links to pictures on your own hard drive... hehe

If you post a link to a picture on your A drive, most people's computers will make noise and stall every time they open the page...

You beat me to it...I checked the board but it was empty so I rushed to post it breaking from Fox News Channel...whenever I think of that American passenger on Flight 93 I get a lump in my throat and I thank God that decades of trying to stifle our fighting human spirit by the PC crowd was not successful...

God bless our president and his administration for having the intelligence and seriousness of purpose to not let this stand.

I pray for our troops who have picked up where the firmen and other rescue workers in NYC, DC, and Pa. left off.

I pray for our beautiful country to stay strong and resolute.

I even offer a prayer for all the feel-good liberals who are scared out of their wits and holding peace marches--may God give them the intelligence to wake up and smell the coffee--leave the prayers and tears for Church--start thinking of concepts like courage and love of country--and just grow up NOW!!!

When Desert Storm launched Tom Brokaw referred to an F-4 as an F-16! I will never forget that moment. My 10-year old son was yelling at him about the fact it was an F-4 Wild Weasel not an F-16! Wouldn't you think they would do some research?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the Air Force decided that B-1s are really only useful for delivering one type of "special" ordnance?

You know, I never thought of that until you just said it. I have only seen F-14's, A-6's, etc..., on carriers. Never 15's or 16's. Is that b/c the Navy does not fly Falcons or Eagles? Please advise.

Babylon</font size>

Turn around go back down go back the way you came
Babylon is laid to waste Egypt's buried in her shame
Their mighty men are beaten down the kings are fallen in
the ways
Oh God! The pride of man broken in the dust again.

Turn around go back down go back the way you came
Terror is on everyside though the leaders are dismayed
Those who put their faith in fire in fire their faith shall
be repaid
Oh God! The pride of man broken in the dust again.

Turn around go back down go back the way you came
Shout a warning to the nations that the sword of God is
raised
On Babylon that mighty city rich in treasure wide in fame
It shall cause thy towers to fall and make it be a pyre of
flame
Oh God! The pride of man broken in the dust again.

Thou that dwell on many water rich in treasure wide in fame
Bow unto a god of gold thy pride of might shall be thy shame
Oh God! The pride of man broken in the dust again.

And only God can lead the people back into the faith again
Thy holy mountain be restored thy mercy on thy people hoard.

:

Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying,
Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city!
for in one hour is thy judgment come.
- Revelation 18:10

SADDAM HUSSEIN: The Nebuchadnezzar Factor</font size>

Many have tried to analyze the motives of Saddam Hussein. The State Department and Foreign Offices around the world have all tried to come up with explanations for Saddam's so-called irrational behavior.

Questions are obvious, the answers have been tentative at best. Is he mad, a megalomaniac, completely out of touch with the "real world"? Why is he spending billions on lavish palaces, whilst his people starve? The experts come up with very non satisfying answers. One actually went so far as to make the following statement.

"He has believed for many years that he belongs up there in the pantheon of great socialist leaders: Mao Tse-tung, Castro, Tito. But until the Gulf crisis, he had been overlooked."

Where do they get this stuff?

The fact is that Saddam above all is a student of history, particularly Babylonian and Assyrian history. He sees himself as the inheritor of a great tradition and his obligation to carry on where the greatest of his ancestors left off.

Above all he models himself on one of the greatest, Nebuchadnezzar II and all his actions confirm that analysis.

Nebuchadnezzar II (Nebuchadrezzar II 604-562 BC) you will recall is the great Babylonian King who destroyed Solomon's Temple and took the remnants of the Children of Israel who had not already been exiled by the Assyrians, back to Babylon. Thus we see the first reason for Saddam's obsession with Israel which has nothing to do with either Islam, nor his State's proximity to the Jewish State. Saddam after all began his career as a secular socialist, a member of the Ba'ath Party which at the most paid lip-service to Islam.

"Noble Eagle" is the name of homeland defense operations. "Infinite Justice" appears to be the title of force deployment operations outside the U.S.

I believe Op Noble Eagle referred to protecting our shores and not to any overseas activity.

F-15's & F-16's are Air Force planes. The Navy equivalent is the F-18A. (Fighter/bomber jets)

I can answer that -- you would never find a pilot that flies an F-16 or F-15 landing on a carrier -- they all belong to the Air Force. The F-18 and F-14 are both planes you will see on a carrier as they belong to the Navy/Marines and those pilots are trained to land on carriers.

Excerpt of President Bush's radio address to the nation September 15, 2001 after the WTC/Pentagon Terrorists Attacks of September 11, 2001:

"This is a conflict without battlefields or beachheads, a conflict with opponents who believe they are invisible. Yet, they are mistaken. They will be exposed, and they will discover what others in the past have learned: Those who make war against the United States have chosen their own destruction."

No probably about it! Absolutely the finest stand-off aircraft ever designed!

O.K., I'm ready to be flamed by those pro-Airforce F-15/16 (I can't land on something as small as a carrier), and Marine F-18 (it doesn't matter if my pay check says dept of the NAVY).

No flames, just a few facts. No F-16 has EVER been shot down in air-to-air combat. Its dogfight record against all other aircraft it has engaged is 50+ to ZERO. It was THE multi-role workhorse fighter of the Persian Gulf Conflict and is unsurpassed unequalled among fighter aircraft. (btw, with a tailhook the F-16 can land on an A/C carrier and without a tailhook the F-14 will slide right off the deck into the ocean just like any other jet fighter -- except for a harrier and we won't even think about comparing that bird to the F-16 with a straight face)
