Sorry for the misunderstanding. We have had a policy against wearing of any lapel pins or decorations so that the public never misunderstood our approach. We have lifted that policy to allow our on-air people, if they so chose, to wear a small American flag.
The rest of your offensive comments will not be discussed.
Thanks for sharing your concern with us.

And I said that some of us are old enough to recognize media propaganda when we see it.
OH welllllll.......
It does not matter if the policy has been changed...the responsible party for this public relations disaster needs to be FIRED!
I can see where that would be offensive to them. I thought like that is enough to make a media hack soil themselves. Well done.
(( Big Friggin Grin !! ))
I'm gonna show my age now. Where is Hugh Smith, Ray Dantzler, Roy Leap (sp) and "Salty (no Andy Hardy) Sol" Fleishman when you need 'em!
Class? Anyone? Anyone?

Miami-Dade Fire Chief Dave Paulison has ordered all county fire engines to carry the American flag in honor of the firefighters and police officers killed in New York in last week's terrorist attacks. For anyone who resists now, "it's a penalty of a direct-order violation and it's going to be very, very strict. I can assure everyone that these gentlemen are going to ride the truck with the flag." Fernandez said if the two firefighters refuse to ride when they return to work, they "will be met with severe discipline."

Thanks for triggering a flood of memories
I was born in St. Pete (Mound Park Hospital) in '57, grew up in Pinellas Park, then Coquina Key, finally down at Pinellas Point on 63rd Ave. My father was a St. Petersburg policeman, my grandfather a St. Petersburg fireman. Went to Lakewood Elementary (now gone, replaced by some space-pod-looking thing), and Bay Point Junior High.
I remember all those TV guys, particularly Roy Leap (watched him during the bi-annual hurricane evacuations). I used to order the hurricane tracking chart from WTVT every year. And Salty Sol, no one like him left, is there? As a kid I rode with him on a boat once across Tampa Bay during the Gasparilla Pirates invasion (about '63 I think...)
Only two or three channels in those days. And no FreeRepublic. Get up early and watch a test pattern ("A what?") till cartoons came on. Stay up late and watch Shock Theater, then listen to the national anthem while Air Force jets flew by, followed by another test pattern. I miss those characters. Do you know if any of them are still with us?
I was in St. Pete in '99 with my family. The places where I lived have, unfortunately, not held up well. My kids were saying "Wow, Dad, you lived here?" Took them to Mullet Key and Fort Desoto. Showed them the lighthouse on Egmont Key. If you want to see a large collection of St. Pete pictures from about 1956 to 1960, go to www.lib.usf.edu/spccoll/guide/g/graber/guide.html. I found pictures of Coquina Key when it was still called Lewis Island.
Stay well. God Bless America.
With Andy Hardy and Manuel Berio of the Valencia Garden Resturant. "Salute and Happy Days".
Later you could turn to 44 and watch Creature Feature with Dr. Paul Bearer. You may have been gone by then.
I was in Lakeland during the same time frame.
if you wear the flag's colors
you are someone unwilling to speak out against government wrongs.
That false reasoning was amply disproven over the last 8 years, when plenty of "flags on their lapels" Americans spoke out against ex-president Clinton. Wouldn't MOST Americans prefer to hear criticism, of an action by one of our leaders, from someone who indicates (by a ribbon or a lapel pin) that he supports the welfare of our nation?
It looks like some folks are still (deliberately?) confusing patriotic allegiance to one's country with empty-headed nationalism.
