Experts cited in other FR posts tell us there are MANY terrorist cells here among us now. Who do we have to fear more---THEM or POLITICAL CORRECTNESS??

Indeed, friend. And we learned more and more all the time about how McCarthy was right. When they rummaged around the files of the KGB and USSR during recent years they uncovered more and more proof. For example, in the Whitaker Chambers and Alger Hiss matter.

You're right---I should have given attribution since I heard that said by some mid-east expert during one of the hundreds of hours of tv I have logged during the recent days.

Since the quote is unattributed, consider it my opinion, which is why this is in the FR "opinion" category.

It's still possible that a smashing, quick, complete and overwhelming military victory will spare us the necessity of becoming a police state. That kind of victory would likely so discredit Islamic fundamentalism and validate the modern world that its adherants would no longer be welcome in their own communities.

I, too, think that a decisive military strike against the locations of the terrorists encompassing most of the nations surrounding those locations is the minimum required. Only that will give even the minimum assurance we need that we can stop terrorism.

Massive military strikes (like, say, carpet bombing) would hopefully whack out many or most of the terrorists. MORE importantly, the terrorists and their friends and families and government would be UNABLE to be in the terrorist business for the rest of their lifetimes, because they would be too busy trying to build shelters and obtain food.

That neutralizes the offshore threats. THEN, we have to contend with the cells among us...

For the cause of Freedom, I dont care if America has to kill Millions or even Billions of people. There are no limits towards the cause of Freedom, pal.

Bump.

This is how it has always been: the choice between preserving our nation or allowing our nation to be destroyed. That leftist crowd from Hollywood who represent the millions of Gore voters, and these demonstrators on campuses, don't believe freedom is worth killing for. So therefore, they would rather spare the terrorists, and they don't admit the LOGICAL result of sparing the terrorists: the terrorists then destroy us.

It is just like it was for years with Sadaam. The left's philosophy about him and all bad guys is, "If we're nice to him, then he'll be nice to us too"

It would almost be humorous to listen to these goobers back-track if they hadn't contributed so heavily to placing us in this spot to begin with.

We have the Clintons and their leghunching friends in the Alphabet Media plus other 'we feel your pain' airheads to thank for bringing this society down to their level.

This country will carry the stench of these people for as long as it takes to cleanse ourselves by going through many hard to accept corrective measures which will be painful to endure but will produce liberty and freedom from this evil influence that we willingly allowed to continue for too long.

... An all out war against the enemy without will enable us to rid ourselves of the enemy within, for once and for all ...

An interesting, and ominous, comment ... care to elaborate ?

It's comforting to have a parent who lived through WWII right now, isn't it? Something my mother told me makes me feel a little better. She was at U. of Mich. after Pearl Harbor and there were students protesting our involvement in WWII even then...at U. of M. and at campuses across the country. Off campus, though, even those who remembered the horrors of WWI and kept us out of the war before Pearl Harbor rallied.

Hollywood is not a unifying force. They threw a big wet blanket on President Bush's efforts to steel the country for the coming years and support our necessary military efforts, IMHO. Only bright spot, Osama despises them and was probably more outraged than we were at Hollywood's international display of "morality." (^:

Take anything anyone says or does now and imagine it as the response to Hiroito and to Hitler. Say, after Pearl Harbor, entertainment superstars get together and say NOTHING about patriotism or war, but rather have a telethon that emphasizes their concern that someone in the USA might say something mean to a Japanese-American.

Apparently you are blind and deaf as well as a fearfull little shrew. The purpose of the program was to raise funds for the families of those who died in the attacks. It was also to pay tribute to the heroism shown by many of those who died and those who continued to work to save those in the rubble. The purpose was not to convince Americans that we need to kill terrorists and overthrow countries friedly to them. Virtually all agree that is necessary.

Were there a few who couldnt put aside their leftist tendencies, such as whoever it was (cant remember) who sang Lennon's "Imagine" or the stupid comments by De Niro, sure. But that was a small part of the show.

Prejudice against Arabs who live in America, whatever someone THINKS about this subject and diversity, etc.---this is NOTHING compared to the WAR we face. And these leftist idiots among us---like those who appeared last night, with only a couple of exceptions I can think of (Clint talked tough; Petty was the ONLY one who sang an appropriate song)---are too DOGMATIC to admit that we won't have to WORRY about diversity and hate if we are destroyed by Islam.

You say diversity, I say constitutional law. You miss the whole point but that usually happens with people who "think" emotionally. We are a country of laws and citizens have rights to equal protection under our laws.

Will we have to be more stringent about who we let in this country? Yes. I can even see revoking all visas for the duration and only those screened and approved at the highest levels of our govenment would be allowed to enter. I would also restrict movement of UN personnel and ambassadorial staffs and if they strayed beyond those borders they would be expelled from the country. Unfortunately, I think we will need to do much more suveillance on Arab Americans than in the past. For some it will be like the FBI surveillance of the mafia.

That said, I dont think we should view Arab Americans as the enemy. Most are more patriotic than the sons and daughters of WASP families now attending our most prestigious colleges. Sure they are concerned about potential bombing of certain Muslim countries. If you came from Yoguslavia, you probably would have been concerned about American bombing there, worrying about extended family, etc, but that doesnt mean that you would do anything to hurt the United States.

If Arab Americans turn on the rest of us and become the terrorists you fear, it will not be because the clerics called them to a jihad, it will be fearfull little idiots in this country declare war on them because they dont have enough confidence in our abilty to prevail.

It occurs to me that in an all out war -- a declared war -- traitors are handled by military tribunals, not civilian authorities (adios habeas corpus and other civil rights niceties--the country comes first) . . . Read: lots of executions for offering succor and support to the enemy. Just what America needs, IMHO.

What do you suggest that we do with Arab people living here. Should we round them up and deport them all? Send the aliens back to whatever country they came from and the citizens back to whatever country their ancestors came from or whatever country will take them? Is that what it will take for you to feel safe?

Yes-- removal of all followers of the islamic religion would be preferable. This will not be done so we should stop all immigration of muslims, deport all who are not American citizens and keep watch on American arabs.

Sic Heil Mein Fuhrer!

You are one sick puppy. That kind of sounds like we had to destroy the village to save it. There is no need to kill millions. To speak of doing so proves one thing only, that you are either fearfull little "man" or you have an insatiable blood lust which means you are on the same level as the terrorists.

Muhammed appears to have been the Charles Manson of the 7th century. A most dfficult question is how to control the "family" in the 21st century.

http://free.freespeech.org/rationalthinking/

A thorough study of Quran and Hadiths reveal an Islam that is not being presented honestly by the Muslim propagandists and is not known to the majority of Muslims. Islam as it is taught in Quran (Koran) and lived by Muhammad, as is reported in the Hadith (Biography and sayings of the Prophet) is a religion of intolerance, inequality, violence, discrimination, superstition, fanaticism, and blind faith. Islam advocates killing the non-Muslims, abuses the human rights of the minorities and women. Islam expanded by Jihad (holy war) and forced its way by killing the non-believers and the dissidents. Apostasy in Islam is the biggest crime, punishable by death. Muhammad was a fundamentalist himself therefore fundamentalism cannot be separated from true Islam. Islam, which means submission, demands from its followers to submit their wills and thoughts to Muhammad and his Allah, a deity that despises reason, democracy, freedom of thought and freedom of expression. I reject Islam a) because of Muhammad’s lack of moral and ethical fortitude and b) because of the absurdities in Quran.

Muhammad lived a less than holy life. His lust for sex, his affairs with his maids and slave girls, his pedophilic relationship with Aisha a 9-year-old child, his killing sprees, his massacre and the genocide of the Jews, his slave making and trading, his assassination of his opponents, his raids and lootings of the merchant caravans, his burning of the palm plantations, his destroying the water wells, his cursing and invoking evil on his enemies and his revenge on his captured prisoners of war disqualify him as a decent human being let alone the messenger of God b) An unbiased study of Quran shows that far from being a “miracle” that book is a hoax. Once Quran is scrutinized with rational thinking, almost every sentence proves to be false. Quran is replete with scientific heresies, historic blunders, mathematical mistakes, logical absurdities and grammatical errors. Could possibly the author of this Universe be as ignorant as it appears to be in Quran?

Quran tells Muslims to kill the disbelievers wherever they find them (Q. 2:191), to murder them and treat them harshly (Q. 9:123), slay them (Q. 9: 5), fight with them, (Q. 8: 65 ) even if they are Christians and Jews, humiliate them and impose on them a penalty tax (Q. 9: 29). Quran takes away the freedom of belief from all humanity and tell clearly that no other religion except Islam is accepted (Q. 3: 85). It relegates those who disbelieve in Quran to hell (Q. 5: 11), calls them najis (filthy, untouchable, impure) (Q. 9: 28). It orders its followers to fight the unbelievers until no other religion except Islam is left (Q. 2: 193). It says that the non-believers will go to hell and will drink boiling water (Q. 14: 17). It asks the Muslims to slay or crucify or cut the hands and feet of the unbelievers, that they be expelled from the land with disgrace and that “they shall have a great punishment in world hereafter” (Q.5: 34). “As for the disbelievers”, it says that “for them garments of fire shall be cut and there shall be poured over their heads boiling water whereby whatever is in their bowls and skin shall be dissolved and they will be punished with hooked iron rods” (Q. 22: 9). Quran prohibits a Muslim to befriend a non-believer even if that non-believer is the father or the brother of that Muslim (Q. 9: 23), (Q. 3: 28). Quran asks the Muslims to “strive against the unbelievers with great endeavor (Q. 25: 52), be stern with them because they belong to hell (Q. 66: 9). The holy Prophet demanded his follower to “strike off the heads of the disbelievers”; then after making a “wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives” (Q. 47: 4). As for women the book of Allah says that they are inferior to men and their husbands have the right to scourge them if they are found disobedient (Q. 4:34). It teaches that women will go to hell if they are disobedient to their husbands (Q. 66:10). It maintains that men have an advantage over the women (Q. 2:228). It not only denies the women's equal right to their inheritance (Q. 4:11-12), it also regards them as imbeciles and decrees that their witness is not admissible in the court (Q. 2:282). This means that a woman who is raped cannot accuse her rapist unless she can produce a male witness. Muhammad allowed the Muslims to marry up to four views and gave them license to sleep with their slave maids and as many “captive” women as they may have (Q. 4:3). He himself did just that. This is why anytime a Muslim army subdues another nation, they call them kafir and allow themselves to rape their women. Pakistani soldiers raped up to 250,000 Bangali women in 1971 after they massacred 3,000,000 unarmed civilians when their religious leader decreed that Bangladeshis are unislamic. This is why the prison guards in Islamic regime of Iran rape the women and then kill them after calling them apostates and the enemies of Allah.

This site scrutinizes Islam with Rational Thinking. It rejects time-honored beliefs that cannot stand the probing of reason. It asks questions and encourages independent thinking. It promotes unity of humankind, equality between men and women, abolition of prejudices and freedom from dogmatism and blind faith. In a world that has become so technologically advanced that even the poorest nations that cannot feed themselves boast having sophisticated nuclear and biological weapons, small misunderstandings can cause catastrophic results. Religion has always been the biggest source of misunderstanding. For religion, people are ready to die, kill and destroy everything else. Only a religious person would believe that he would go to paradise if he kills other human beings. Only a religious person has no regards for the lives he destroys because their faith is not right. In the past century Islamic fundamentalism has been on the rise, and with that terrorisms, revolutions, and upheavals ensued. Millions of lives were lost and still counting. Let us pause for a moment and take a second look at Islam. We may just have made a mistake.

The reason I think Islam is harmful and must go is not due to the fact that Quran says Earth is flat or the stars are missiles that Allah fires at the jinns who climb the heaven to eavesdrop the conversation of the exalted assembly. These tales could even amuse us. Islam must go because it teaches hate, it orders killing the non-Muslims, it denigrates women and it violates the human rights. Islam must go not because it is false but because it is destructive, because it is a danger; a threat to peace and security of humankind. With the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in Islamic countries, Islam has become a serious and a real threat to the survival of our species.

I am sure that Bush knows that it ISN'T a case of "we've got to root out a very small number of terrorists," etc. Are you saying the President of the United States is lying? You know, you can't pick and choose among his statements. Either you support him or you don't. If he says he will rid the world of evil, that's what he means. When he says the above, that's what he means.

I could only stomach a few minutes of the 'telethon' last night! Watch the sports this weekend, football and certainly Nascar and you'll see the way supporting the victims and our country OUGHT to be done!

Yup, no Lee Greenwoods singing I'm Proud to be an American invited to that bunch of bilge last night!

To stop...terrorismlink)---we gotta stop... social engineering(link)!!

I watched on c-span...a Senator like he saw a ghost--say his committee was going to make a grave decision on the size of classes for shcoolchildren--teachers...also this prescription medication for elderly and reparations-race rhetoric garbage. If GM had to make cars the way the govt. supposed to protect us--production-safety would be cut in half--two thirds and prices would quadruple and blue(dnz) cars would be bumping all the red cars---running them off of the road---blowing them up---car bombing---while GM will be discussing parking lot assignments--etiquette...bs!

Sorry I missed it... :) I was actually in the air flying until midnight last night. I must say the airlines have really stepped up the plate here. They went out of their way to make everyone feel secure about flying.

The employees were actually very nice and every flight I was on this week landed ahead of schedule!
