Thatcher, and many others, Duane (aka "Generalissimo") has agreed to jump into this "lion's den" we call Free Republic, to help answer questions about his boss, nationally syndicated conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt, and their upcoming move to "PRIME TIME" on 10/1/01 - in many NEW markets across the USA.

FWIW, Hugh Hewitt lurks here, and is a VERY good friend of FR. He often cites FR as the source of his news reports, and aggressively promotes this forum on his show - often more than he does many of his paying sponsors!

Just as many of the oldtimers here first discovered Free Republic from a "Whitewater" link (no longer active) at the DrudgeReport, or from hearing Rush interview our own "Clinton's a Liar" on HIS show, I was introduced to FR by Hugh during the attempted theft of the 2000 election last November. Thank you, Hugh!

I've been a member of FR for over 3 years now!! I've been to several of the FR events in Washington DC. I don't know WHAT I would do without FR!!

I've just recently discovered Hugh Hewitt's show here in the Louisville area - about 3 weeks ago. I am hooked!!! I'm thrilled that it will be changing to a later time. We are a homeschooling family (10 years now) and it was sort of difficult to listen at the 9:00 - 12:00 slot, since that is when we do the bulk of our school work.

Again - welcome aboard!!

Your constant carrying on about Rush Limbaugh is overblown and overdone. If you don't like what he says you might consider one of the following options:
Turn the dial
Wear earplugs
Take a break
Get some rest
Get a job
Grow up
Shut up
Get a little
Get a life
Buy a clue

I guarantee you that there is nothing you can say about Rush Limbaugh that we all haven't heard or read about at least a million times. So, if you are incapable of coming up with some interesting or original material, put a sock in it!

Hugh does not have the market share - yet! - of Rush or Drudge, but he HAS been a very good FRiend of this forum.

I do NOT like Hugh's new time slot. I'm on the east coast, and the six to nine segment all but assures that I will not be able to listen to him again. Too bad. He was up against a real irritating local yokel here in the a.m. slot, but alas, he wants to broadcast later, so I'm stuck with no Hugh now. BoodyHoo for me. Hope all goes well for him.

Welcom Duane. I have listened to Hugh since his days on the weekend at KFI. I am glad he is moving to the afternoon drive. I have grown tired of John and Ken yelling at people and Larry Elder does too many hours about racial issues. Hopefully all of the guests that Hugh has on weekly will be able to make the move with him. Just one thing, could Hugh pass along a message to Pat Morrison of "Life and Times" and tell her to lose the hats. That schtick is getting old.

Besides, Duane is the producer of a nationally syndicated radio show that is currently broadcast into 45+ markets across the USA, and his future programming decisions on this VERY pro-FR show could be significantly altered by what we post here.
