IRAN PREPARING FOR WAR

Our affiliate AFI reports that In what appears to be a potentially aggressive redeployment of its forces, Iran has moved two squadrons of Su-24 and MiG-29 strike fighters to airbases in the south along with an IL-76 Mainstay AEW aircraft and has in addition moved a regiment of Scud missiles near to Bandar Abbas. The batteries of Chinese-built CSSC-3 'Seersucker' anti-ship missiles covering the vital choke-point of the straits of Hormuz have been brought to a high state of readiness and the combination of strike aircraft and massed missile batteries must pose a distinct threat to the largely aircraft carrier based US air armada forced to operate in the reasonably restricted waters of the Persian Gulf and north Arabian Sea.
Two reports dovetail with AFIs reports on Iranian moves. First, an Iranian military commander has said that his country will take action against repeated infringements of its air space. During the Gulf War US aircraft entered Iranian air space on numerous occasions; we do not know if all entries were in error. Second, the Kitty Hawk has kept some, if not all, of its ASW complement on board, suggesting the need to protect against a potential submarine threat.

You're either with us or with the terrorists!

I think we're beginning to see why we need such a massive build-up. To take care of opportunists.

Sept. 24 - The NATO agent ruling the Ucraine (Kuchma) opens the air space to the US.
Russia can't accept this.
Sept. 30 - The NATO agent ruling Georgia (Shevardnadze) once again confirms Georgia's air space is open to the US.
Russia can't accept this.
Understand what REALLY is on the make.

Chinese troop movements as well.

I'd advise you all to read through those details again, nice and slowly, all of them.
If you know anything about military matters, then you'll know how serious this is....

Thanks! They're much closer to the aircraft carriers now. Should save some fuel and reduce range problems.

Sorry but your link is way over the top.
Clinton was/is a terrible President. Kosovo was his baby.
We are not about to bomb Russia or are we looking for a reason to do so.
I'm hoping this current crises brings the Russians and us closer and that it lasts.

I have said it once I have said it a million times, this world is in its final, violent death spiral. Only divine intervention on a MASSIVE scale can prevent man from his "destiny with destruction". Thats why asking God for forgivness, repentance, revival, and restoration is the MOST important thing any person on this planet can be doing at this time. If you don't build your life from this day forward on the rock, Jesus Christ, your life will collapse on the sinking sands of fallen humanity's last gasp of insanity.

The China Threat :
chapter 6, page 104
A case in point: China's 1996 sale of Houdong fast patrol boats to Iran. The patrol boats were equipped with C-802 antiship cruise mssiles. A navy Admiral in the Persian Gulf, Vice Admiral Scott Redd, said the missiles were a threat to American ships and the 15,000 troops in the region. And the threat was not merely thoeretcal. In the late 1990's two of the Iranian Houdong missile patrol boats carred out a simulated, high speed attack againt the U.S. aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk and the cruiser Cowpens. The Iranian boats approached the warships and did not alter course until they were close enough to fire their C-802 cruise missiles. The simulated attack was then broken off.

I think it's safe to say we can put Iran in the with the terrorists camp.

see post #14. what do you make of that?
To: Russell Scott
I have the same feeling Russell. To me this has all the appearance of a setup! All these countries, Russia, China, Iran, Pakastan have one thing in common, they all hate us and hate Isreal equally. We spend weeks putting our main army in an area with no one to back us up. If China comes from the south, Russia from the west, whats left of the Taliban from the north and Iran from the east, we're dead no matter what we throw at them, all of them knowing full well we will never nuke them! Then that leaves Isreal as the prize to be swept away! Say what you will about the impossibility of it, (we give them money! we keep the world finacially afloat!) they all hate us and have all prepared for years for war against the United States. Hell who would have thought 3 weeks ago someone would be mad enough to destroy both world trade centers and attack the Pentagon!!!

Rather suggests that Iran might have a contract with the Taliban or possibly with Bin Laden.
The carriers will be the target. The Kittyhawk will be a helicopter staging craft for medevac. The hangar decks probably are set up as MASH units.
The U.S. has never successfully defended a ship since W.W. II, as opposed to many successful attacks from jets and inflatable row-boats.
Iraq may throw in on the deal, also.
The resources and skill of Iran/Iraq isn't the question. The threat is the infamous, "Lucky Shot."
Assuming these reports are factual, the equation may have radically changed.

What if this isn't "it"? What if that time is yet to come? The view of the world couldn't have seemed any better during WWII but that wasn't to be the end. We must survive now. Our survival is at stake I believe.
I pray for Bush. If ever a President needed guidance this is it.

I must be obtuse. What's in this for Iran? I can understand a certain level of antagonism considering the history with the US and possible allegiances with Taliban, but the potential of an unprovoked strike against US forces? Double-dealing with Russia?

Your wrong, if Russia,China,Iran, and others pulled a surprise attack to wipe out our armed forces, the nukes would fly.

The ignorant and blind passion of the Islamic countries will resort to anything to kill the other side; loyalties are convenience items only; the power of raw tribalism is the actual driving force.
DON'T make the mistake of under-estimating that force.
To: maquiladora
The SU-24 is an F-111 ripoff. It's become a second-rate plane in the 1st world. The Mig-29 is a good aircraft but the Russkies refuse to sell advanced AAM with the planes. They would be able to handle anything in the 3rd world but would be fresh meat for an F-18 with AMRAAM's.

Too much shouldn't be made of this. Of course Iran's going to mobilize troops when the US is toppling an Islamic state on their border.

I think a pre-emptive tactical nuke attack is warranted if our fleet is sitting like a duck in the Gulf pond.

Iran's MiG-29's have refuelling capabilities since 1996, they can reach Diego Garcia, so yeah, the Carriers are within range

But I'm telling you that we must come to a place to where we can trust God to take care of us no matter what happens. All I'm saying is its time to return to the foot of the cross. Its time to pick up our cross. Its time to focus in on the word of God and return to basics and be filled with the spirit. And march forth with flying colors. We need God on our side more than any other time. We need the favor of God more than any other time in history. We need to march as an army with might and great banners. We need to scare Satan out of Satan. It is only Satan who has raised up these armies that hate America and all of the psychotic insanity. Even though some are brilliant and some are intelligent, there is such insanity mixed with it that they would like to wipe America off the face of the earth, thinking that we're the demons, we're the devils, we're Satan.
But our God is about to show himself real to us if we'll return to him. If we'll return to him. Not just take a look now and then. Not just honor him in this or that. But honor him in everything, in all our ways. And when all our ways please God then he will make even our enemies to be at peace with us.
Let's stop being the know-it-alls. Let's stop being the bullies. Let's stop being the police state. Let's start being humble Americans who have made mistakes and will apologize for them. And say, "Let's reason together." And say, "Let's not do anything without our brains being engaged." I'm not saying America is all redneck, but we've had some redneck statements made (and rightly so, I guess) because we are so angry. But this will not work.
What we need is the humility. And that has power. We need the confidence that comes only from honoring God. And that has power against our enemies and against every foe. If we start honoring God, God will honor us so fast. He will come so quickly. He will do so much to bring down all of these things. And keep the pestilence away and keep the anthrax away. And keep the germ warfare and the biological, chemical war - he will hold it back. He will hold it back. We're gonna have a limited amount of it just to show us how great our God is, and how great his judgement could be. But God will intervene if he finds some more people than the people that are gathered in this arena tonight. He will come through for us. It doesn't take that many - even two agreeing together.
It doesn't say, "if any two," it says, "if two." And that means a special two. That means two people that are not angry with each other, don't have any rivalry in their heart, don't have competition in their heart, don't have anything against the other, and they agree together, two people could stop this thing. But we need two to agree.
We need three or more gathered in his name for him to be in their midst also. But it takes two in total agreement, totally honoring God, totally pleasing God. And you get these two people together and they can agree, it can stop wars. It can stop famines. It can stop pestilence. It can stop anthrax from working. It can stop all the bombs. It can stop all the acts of terrorism.

Where are those Iranian Backfires (the sale has been rumored to be on-again/off-again since 1993, but it may have gone through - they were listed in my Naval Institute Guide to World Military Aviation 1997/1998, so I assume they got them)? Those could be a problem.

If what you propose is correct then we might as well get it over with now. If we wait they only will get stronger. Better to work on them before they get more unified.

I have ready 'slowly' through it all. I've been saying for weeks that the entire region could go up in flames. So be it. If that region of the Earth from Algeria to Pakistan is turned into rubble, then, looking at it coldly, that might not be such a bad thing.
I hate to say that.
However, these regimes certainly wish us nothing good. We could be in for a long haul, but if our enemies states' are reduced to rubble, over the longest span of time it might do a lot to reduce tensions there.

Iran's favorite tactic in that war was mass suicide waves. They would send thousands of people across the line to be slaughtered. Iran was the victim of some serious chemical warfare also. Blister, blood and nerve agents.
