I am in tears, but while there are tears, there's also pride and knowledge that he is a hero to those that knew him and to those that only know of him. God Bless this brave, patriotic American. God Bless his family and friends...

A bump and a prayer for a man that makes Americans proud.

As I mourn his death, I am unspeakably proud that a man of such courage would see fit to keep company with us. He died a national hero. If I can do as much with my life as he did with his death, I will have succeeded beyond my wildest dreams.

The other Chief lost today:
"If the Army and the Navy ever looked on heaven's scene,
they would find the streets are guarded by United States MARINES!"
CHIEF negotiator dies in east Houston house fire One more Brother has been called to serve again in a Higher command.

Oh, my heart is broken. But I'm so proud to be a part of something this hero was a part of.

6,500 Americans were murdered by the Barbarians that day.
Statiscally, that is 1 out of every 40,000 Americans.
According to statistics, there are 60,000 Free Republic posters.
With the 2 confirmed dead Freepers amongst the 6,500 casaulties that horrible day, it is just about exactly what the law of averages would dictate.
To: AppyPappy
Oh dear Lord what a shame. May the Lord take him up in His arms. And may BCM rest in peace. Prayers for his family.

VERY sad news :-(
To: AppyPappy
Thanks for the post AP. God bless the family! Knowing he was one of us only makes his passing more painful.

Thanks for the ping, Dog. As I was telling a freeper from New Jeresy today. Who knows how many freepers we may have lost because of these attacks. Many may have been daily lurkers, who read FR at work, who came to Free Republic to read the news. We may never know. God Bless them all.

May he go with God.What a fine man, and so brave.I hope the NYC Freepers were all able to enjoy his company and comradeship, and if possible, hope that his family can get a prinout of this thread to read all the condolensces.
May God Bless his family.

You wonder what John would have responded to all the people posting "blame America" crap on FR? I am starting to take all this and those jerks personaly. It used to be an altruistic fuzzy intuition that animated me, now each time I will see a peace nick I won't rest.
To: BCM, Chief Negotiator
Go With God. Rest In Peace. And know that you will be invoked and remembered on the day of victory over these forces of barbarian evil.
To: Jim Robinson
Is someone working on the FR Memorial Wall?

Ladder 3 lost fully half of its entire complement Sep 11. Twelve men died. I walk by their firehouse on 13th St every day. Sad. The candles are still burning on the sidewalk. The apartment building/NYU dorm across the street still has banners of condolence in all the windows.

I was that which others did not want to be. I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing, and reluctantly accepted the fact of eternal rest should I fall.
I have seen the face of terror and felt the stinging cold of fear. I have loved, cried, suffered, and hoped, but most of all, I have lived times others would say were "best forgotten".
At least some day I will be able to say that I was proud of what I was - A Firefighter"
<Rest in Peace John Moran

We walked by that firehouse, too. My wife cried.
Say a prayer for Manny at Ladder Five. Nice kid. He used to tease my daughter when we walked by. Memorial service is later this week.
BCM and I had a wonderful exchange in a thread my first month posting on FR. He made me feel at home.
