Bin Laden Says No Peace for U.S. Until Palestine Free
Reuters ^ | 10/7/01 | Reuters

DUBAI (Reuters) - Osama bin Laden, in his first verified statement since the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States, swore in videotaped remarks broadcast Sunday that the United States would not live in peace until "peace reigns in Palestine."

"America has been filled with horror from north to south and east to west, and thanks be to God what America is tasting now is only a copy of what we have tasted," he said in a statement to Qatar's al-Jazeera television, referring to the attacks in the United States that left about 6,000 people dead or missing.

"Our Islamic nation has been tasting the same for more 80 years," he said, adding President Bush was the "head of the infidels."

"God has blessed a group of vanguard Muslims to destroy America ... and may God bless them and allot them a place in heaven."

"I swear to God to that America will not live in peace before peace reigns in Palestine," he said.

Jazeera said the statement was videotaped after Sept. 11 but did not give a specific date. An aide to bin Laden, Ayman Zawahri, urged Muslims to resist America and another aide said the attacks were because America supported Israel's occupation of Arab lands.

I still say the State Department is helping write his speeches.

Wasn't the Balfour Declaration about 80 years ago? Was that the reason for that time span being mentioned? I'd like to know.

"I swear to God to that America will not live in peace before peace reigns in Palestine," he said.

Interesting. I'd say this is a relatively recent addition to the plan -- gotta stock up on fanatics, and spread the pain a bit, and also crank up the fundamentalists in the surrounding Arab countries.

The question is, how much traction will Osama get with the tactic, given that this will probably pit fundies against their governments? And how much effort do you suppose the Bush administration is putting into driving a wedge between them?

My feeling is that Osama's probably going to overplay his hand on this one. The rulers of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia have to much stake in remaining part of the real world to let the fundamentalists go on as they have.

I can't WAIT for the day when Bin Laden says, "WILL SOMEONE PLEEEASE GET THIS PORK CHOP OUTTA MY COLON!!!"

Of course, the reply would HAVE to be, "Say 'Uncle'."

...until "peace reigns in Palestine." So-o-o-o, round up all the palistinians and ship them to afghanistan.

Well, Osama bin Laden said there would not be peace for the United States until all Jews were out of Palestine.

This is very significant -- because -- all of that land is considered "PALESTINE" (including "Israel" -- because they do not recognize Israel). Thus, what he was saying is that there will be no peace in the United States until all Jews are forced out of that region.

NOW, FURTHERMORE, the national new media is LYING about this -- because they've added the words -- out of the "Palestinian-occupied areas". And the national new media knows beyond any doubt that they don't mean that. They are "covering for Osama bin Laden" by not letting the American public know what he really means. The Islamics know what he means.

In President Bush's speech, announcing that the war on terrorism had
begun with strikes on Afghanistan, he asked,"ANYONE FOR DESSERT?"

Remember, this bin Laden doesn't represent Islam or Palestine. He's a billionaire playboy who gets his jollies playing 'war' with real people and real planes.

Islam isn't any more wrong, nor is the idea of a Palestinian State, any more wrong, than are the planes bin Laden hijacked. The truth is, bin Laden hijacked all these things and ideas in order to play 'war'.

From listening to the Islamics all over the world -- and we're talking about the "masses" -- it would definitely seem that Osama bin Laden does represent typical Islamic thinking. There is no doubt about that. That's why his message resonates throughout the whole Islamic world. You may want to pretend that it isn't so -- but there are countless examples of this representing true Islamic feeling all over the world.

You're simply an apologist for the Satanic religion of Islamic being a "Peaceful Religion".

You've spelled it wrong. They're a PIECEFUL RELIGION -- because they will chopped someone into "PIECES" if they do not submit to Islam. That's what they mean by "pieceful".

And definitely Islam is a perverse and Satanic religion, fitting perfectly all the attributes of Satan that we are given in the Bible. Satan is a liar, a deceiver, a destroyer and pretends to be "religious".

You may not have noticed but he (and the world of Islamics) are not "playing" at war. We have a couple of missing 100-story buildings in New York that are not a "play-pen".

he doesn't represent them

I beg to differ. I think he does very much represent them and that there will never be any peace as long as Israel exists.

The USA must either stop support of Israel and let it be destroyed or annihilate the muslim world.

It's really that simple.

Otherwise the "War on Terrorism" will never be won, and we will always have to worry about some scumbag with a bad beard blowing himself up at the mall.

I believe that must be it. The British Mandate over much of the former Ottoman territories began in about 1920. The French controlled Syria and Lebanon, IIRC.

NOPE! You've got the wrong idea here. Osama bin Laden said that until *all the Jews were out of Palestine, the war would continue on the United States.

AND -- you have to know what all the Islamics think is "PALESTINE". It's all of Israel. That's what the national news media is not reporting.

In other words, they want the TOTAL DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL -- or else -- the war continues on the U.S. Is this a "religious war"? It certainly is!!

Here's some great perspective by Joseph Farah, an Arab American, at WorldNetDaily from about a year ago. http://WorldNetDaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=15066

------------

Myths of the Middle East by Joseph Farah (c) 2000, WorldNetDaily.com

I've been quiet since Israel erupted in fighting spurred by disputes over the Temple Mount.

Until now, I haven't even bothered to say, "See, I told you so." But I can't resist any longer. I feel compelled to remind you of the column I wrote just a couple weeks before the latest uprising. Yeah, folks, I predicted it. That's OK. Hold your applause.

After all, I wish I had been wrong. More than 80 people have been killed since the current fighting in and around Jerusalem began. And for what?

If you believe what you read in most news sources, Palestinians want a homeland and Muslims want control over sites they consider holy. Simple, right?

Well, as an Arab-American journalist who has spent some time in the Middle East dodging more than my share of rocks and mortar shells, I've got to tell you that these are just phony excuses for the rioting, trouble-making and land-grabbing.

Isn't it interesting that prior to the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, there was no serious movement for a Palestinian homeland?

"Well, Farah," you might say, "that was before the Israelis seized the West Bank and Old Jerusalem."

That's true. In the Six-Day War, Israel captured Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem. But they didn't capture these territories from Yasser Arafat. They captured them from Jordan's King Hussein. I can't help but wonder why all these Palestinians suddenly discovered their national identity after Israel won the war.

The truth is that Palestine is no more real than Never-Never Land. The first time the name was used was in 70 A.D. when the Romans committed genocide against the Jews, smashed the Temple and declared the land of Israel would be no more. From then on, the Romans promised, it would be known as Palestine. The name was derived from the Philistines, a Goliathian people conquered by the Jews centuries earlier. It was a way for the Romans to add insult to injury. They also tried to change the name of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina, but that had even less staying power.

Palestine has never existed-before or since-as an autonomous entity. It was ruled alternately by Rome, by Islamic and Christian crusaders, by the Ottoman Empire and, briefly, by the British after World War I. The British agreed to restore at least part of the land to the Jewish people as their homeland.

There is no language known as Palestinian. There is no distinct Palestinian culture. There has never been a land known as Palestine governed by Palestinians. Palestinians are Arabs, indistinguishable from Jordanians (another recent invention), Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis, etc. Keep in mind that the Arabs control 99.9 percent of the Middle East lands. Israel represents one-tenth of 1 percent of the landmass.

But that's too much for the Arabs. They want it all. And that is ultimately what the fighting in Israel is about today. Greed. Pride. Envy. Covetousness. No matter how many land concessions the Israelis make, it will never be enough.

What about Islam's holy sites? There are none in Jerusalem.

Shocked? You should be. I don't expect you will ever hear this brutal truth from anyone else in the international media. It's just not politically correct.

I know what you're going to say: "Farah, the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem represent Islam's third most holy sites."

Not true. In fact, the Koran says nothing about Jerusalem. It mentions Mecca hundreds of times. It mentions Medina countless times. It never mentions Jerusalem. With good reason. There is no historical evidence to suggest Mohammed ever visited Jerusalem.

So how did Jerusalem become the third holiest site of Islam? Muslims today cite a vague passage in the Koran, the seventeenth Sura, entitled "The Night Journey." It relates that in a dream or a vision Mohammed was carried by night "from the sacred temple to the temple that is most remote, whose precinct we have blessed, that we might show him our signs. ..." In the seventh century, some Muslims identified the two temples mentioned in this verse as being in Mecca and Jerusalem. And that's as close as Islam's connection to the days of Abraham.

The latest round of violence in Israel erupted when Likud Party leader Ariel Sharon tried to visit the Temple Mount, the foundation of the Temple built by Solomon. It is the holiest site for Jews. Sharon and his entourage were met with stones and threats. I know what it's like. I've been there. Can you imagine what it is like for Jews to be threatened, stoned and physically kept out of the holiest site in Judaism?

So what's the solution to the Middle East mayhem? Well, frankly, I don't think there is a man-made solution to the violence. But, if there is one, it needs to begin with truth.

Pretending will only lead to more chaos. Treating a 5,000-year-old birthright backed by overwhelming historical and archaeological evidence equally with illegitimate claims, wishes and wants gives diplomacy and peacekeeping a bad name.

The USA must either stop support of Israel and let it be destroyed or annihilate the muslim world.

It's really that simple.

You've got the "issue" right -- but you've got the wrong solution. Islam is a false religion and Allah is not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (which He is for the Jews and the Christians).

Thus, the proper end result is for the Islamics to stay out of Israel -- which the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob gave to the Jews forever. Islam is a tool of the Devil and they have thw same goal as Satan, which is the total destruction of Israel and the killing of all the Jews in the world.

This will never stand. Islam will die! The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will defend His name to the world, as He has told us that He will.

I think so too. Up til now his big beef with America was US troops in Saudi Arabia, home of Mecca and Medina. Secondary was "liberating" mosques in Israel. Now he's saying it's about a Palestinian state.

Can't even settle on an issue to be a terrorist about.

You seem to be assuming that the destruction of Israel would appease Islamic militants, and deflect their animus against the West. What is that based on?

The United States does not abandon its friends or its principles, or what is good and decent and right, because of terrorist or military threats from the bad guys. At least it has not so far in its history. If the US support of Israel results in a greater threat, so be it. Peace without justice is no peace at all, at least when it comes to peace with one's soul.

At least that is how I see it. I support your point of view will not be well received here. At least I hope so.

He wants to see Israel destroyed no doubt. What a charming fellow. I gather if we ceded to his terms we'd be next and this American has no doubt of the kind of peace he wants for Jews and Americans --- the one in which we're all safely dead. Our answer in response is to offer him the same peace he's offered us and we can promise him we will not rest fail or falter until he and his Al Quaeda terrorist network is out of business for good and you can take that to the bank.

I am afraid the Israelis will just have to curtail their land stealing operations.

You must have missed that map that Barak offered Arafat. It is really more of an issue thanks to Arafat's "clarification," of whether Israel may hold any land at all in the region for the long term.

Bin Laden specifically mentioned 81 years as the period of subjugation of his lands, I think. So what happened in 1920 to torque him off?

Also, in reply to another poster, he didn't stop at the creation of a Palestinian state. He specifically said all Israelis must leave what is now called Israel.

How about "America First!"? Let's get focused on American interests and what benefits the American people. There must be some good quotation from our history that would be more appropriate than "Give me" something we already have.

You have said much the same thing on previous threads. Yet when asked what policies you believe would be in America's interest, you are somewhat vague.

So I ask you for your opinion:

1. What should the United States do now in response to the terrorist attacks?

2. What should be US policy regarding Israel and the Palestinians?

3. What should be Israel's policy toward the Palestinians?

4. What should be the policy of the Palestinians and other Arab states toward Israel?

He's releasing statements like this for a reason. To widen the war. This guy's a global thinker. What he really wants is to overthrow the Saudi government, to get control of the oil fields there. He and his people feel the desert there is sacred ground.

He also wants control of the Islamic bomb. Only Pakistan among the Islamic world has nuclear weapons. If Osama can get control of these weapons, then he'll be able to create total havoc.

If he gets these two main objectives, then we are in for a World War III. We may be already.

Short of obtaining these two objectives, all he says and does are to inflame the world, and bring chaos on. Chaos in the area, with people rioting in the streets, will destabilize the two governments in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

And now it begins. Our goal must be total victory.

The Muslim terrorist movements are based on the idea that Allah has divinely fated them to win. Defeat them soundly enough that it's clear that it's not Allah's will[1] that Israel be destroyed and the U.S. defeated, then the Muslim nations may start leaving the rest in the world in peace.

[1] Or, if you believe that Allah is not just another name for God, that God is stronger than Allah and will not allow the destruction of Israel and defeat of the U.S.
