Americans searching for security after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks are experiencing enlivened libidos, seeking what sex therapists call "terror" or "post-disaster" sex.

In some cases, it has meant the pursuit of one-night stands, just for the opportunity to get close to someone and to feel at least, temporarily wanted and secure.

The "THH" (thirsty, hungry, horney) response to significant events including death and is well known and well documented in science. (They call it something less crass in scientific circles, of course. THH was just our giggly college way of labeling it.) It's primal in humans.

That's not necessarily true. We are taking care of matters in many ways -- bouncing rubble in Afghanistan, and bouncing Betty next door.

Truth of the matter is, humans have been going hog wild during wars since people started killing each other off in organized fashions. War literature and cinema is chock-full of the "sieze the day and the nearest broad" theme.

I didn't read where it said that the Special Ops were shirking their duties to have sex. How is a housewife from Omaha's having more sex keeping her from slitting the throat of the enemy? Is she supposed to be doing that in between basting the turkey?

Doctor Lauraa was on the radio taking questions when a caller asked, "Doctor, I want to know, why do men always want to marry a virgin? To which she responded, "To avoid criticism."

This story seems to fly in the face of the one that follows out of Ananova, everyone's farvorite news source.

That being said, if it is true, then I would expect the sales of aspirin and other headache medications to be on the rise ... I'm calling my broker immediately.

Stress causes managers and the self-employed to have the most unsatisfying sexual lives. If accurate, is not this war stress?

Sex problems are scourge of management and self-employed

Italian sexologists discovered one-in-three self-employed men or managers suffer from a lack of sexual desire and 64% have problems getting an effective erection.

The team found unemployed people and students are instead less likely to suffer from sexual probelms.

University of Pisa researcher Ciro Basile Fasolo said: "Lack of sexual desire is directly linked to the stress factor, reaching its peak in professions as the self-employed or the firm manager."
